I Diners Enjoy Company Of Brazilian Student Forty-four enjoyed'the very delicious Friendship Club potluck dinner. Saturday, Feb. 12, at 6p.m., at the First United Methodist church. Miss Haidi Elisabeth Heller the A.F.S. student from Brazil was in­ troduced by Mrs. Mary Butler, and the program was given by Haidi before the business meeting. Haidi's pictures and her narration were most in­ teresting, and her charming personality was enjoyed by everyone. In the absence of the president, Harold Wildhagen, vice president, called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m. with words of welcome to the members, and compliments to the ladies for the very fine meal. After the program and business meeting Mrs. Evelyn Smith, introduced member Mary Rose who gave very fine meditations on the theme of love, which everyone certainly enjoyed. Two new members were welcomed into the club, Alice Holmgren, and Marjorie Ricker. The secretary's minutes and the financial statement for January were read and ap­ proved. Mr. Wildhagen gave a report on the benefit breakfast and bake sale, which was very successful. A special collection was taken up for the fund and the treasurer will send a check to the fund for another robe. Elmer Stange reported Julius Gruenfeld is now at the Fair Oaks Nursing home in Crystal Lake and getting along quite well. All present signed a card for Mr. Gruenfeld. Mrs. Bertha Stange reported on the blood pressure screening program for Senior Citizens, and will get more information and probably make arrangements to have this program set-up at our church. This is a service being offered by our local hospital group. Mrs. Vivian Bassett will have the program for the March 12 meeting and the hosts and hostesses will include Vivian Bassett, Ruth and John Godt- fredsen, and Ethel and Clyde Bailey. The meat committee will consist of Bertha and Elmer Stange, Esther Sims and Florence Colby, Florence Berggren, Mary and Herbert Rose, Helen and Morris Crouch, Helen Rodrdanz, Bertha Johnson, Gladys and Louis Block, Lonah and Elver Wendlandt, and Alice Holmgren. Sweetheart Queens Crowned By Sororities Beta Sigma Phi's Valentine dance held Feb. 12 at the Old Town hall in Crystal Lake, was a success. The dance was sponsored by five chapters of Beta Sigma Phi, Xi Iota Omicron, Crystal Lake; Rho Pi, Crystal Lake; Sigma Omicron, Crystal Lake; Pi Alpha, McHenry; and Nu Pi, Arlington Heights. Chapter Sweethearts were crowned by the prospective presidents of each chapter. The sweethearts were as follows: Marsha. Schwan, Xi Iota Omicron; Franke Larson, Rho Pi; Arlene Dahl, Sigma Omicron; Sandy Etten, Pi Alpha; and Mary Ellen Dalicondro. Nu Pi. Master of Ceremonies was Glen Dietz. Pi Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held a meeting on Thursday, Feb. 17, at the home of Mrs. Sandy Etten. With ten members in attendance the motion was made and approved to donate $15 to the In­ ternational Endowment fund. The area convention to be held at Howard Johnson's motor hotel in Palatine June 5 was discussed. A Scottish double bowling, night is in the planning for March 26. The cultural program on the topic Esthetics-Perception of beauty was presented by Mrs. Karen Colomer. The evening ended with refreshments and conversation. The Feb. 3 meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Stacia Russell. The cutural program on Speech was given by Mrs. Fawn Vail and Mrs. Linda Thietje. Ham and Egg Ham and eggs are a time- tested team. Pan-fry slices of leftover ham and serve with fried eggs; stir bits of cooked ham in scrambled eggs or fold into omelets. NEW GRANDCHILD Word was received late Thursday night, Feb. 17, that a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Yegge in Littleton, Colo. Josef Anthony weighed 10 lbs. 8 oz. He has two brothers, Jef­ frey, 12, and John, 4, and two sisters, Jennifer, 10, and Janine, 7. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Burton Annis, Wonder Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Bart Yegge, McHenry. Great grandmothers are Mrs„ Josephine Motulewicz, McHenry, and Mrs. Leo Yegge of DeWitt, Iowa. The Yegges will be moving in the near future to Monroe City, Mo., where Mr. Yegge is employed. DAUGHTER BORN ^A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. O'Brien, 4209 W. Ponca, McHenry, Feb. 12 at Lake Forest hospital, Lake Forest, 111. The baby's name is Erin Lois and she joins a sister, Megan Kathleen, 2, in the O'Brien household. The maternal grandfather is Timothy L. McCormack of Crown Point, Ind. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. O'Brien, Libertyville. JENNIFER'S SISTER Jennifer Gibson, 5 years old, has a new baby sister, Ericka Anne. Ericka was born Mon­ day, Valentine's day, in Sherman hospital, Elgin, and weighed 7 lbs. 7 oz. The girls are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. John Gibson of McHenry.
