The McHenry Warriors traveled to Delavan Friday night and played in one of the oddest games ever witnessed. The Warriors carry a nine-man varsity squad which is usually enough players for any game. However, when this game „ ended the Warriors had only three players left on the floor because six had fouled out. The referees were blowing their whistles far too often for the •> benefit of playing good ; basketball. Delavan won the ; game 49-44. TEN YEARSAGO ' : (Taken from the files of March ; 2, 1967) A cooperative project of the Johnsburg Community club and the Johnsburg Business Men's association March 16 will ! feature an educational and-;; informative program con-; cerning zoning and planning for • McHenry county. The purpose is to better inform the public of; the importance and need for ; planning on a local level. On - hand to explain the program ' will be Sylvester Tonyan, a£ member of the McHenry; County Plan commission, while - John Quay, professional * planner employed by the; county, will go into detail on the various programs of the" commission. At the invitation of the* Lakeland Park Property * Owners association, several^ city of McHenry officials at-4; tended the association's group meeting. Since the recent- annexation of the Lakeland Park area, many questions have arisen as to what the new area may expect from city government and what may be expected of the residents. With the assurances of cooperation and understanding of problems by those in attendance at the jneeting, the feeling prevailed that annexation will result in benefits for all concerned. The Miller chapel located on Wilmot road was the target of vandals recently, when win dows in the eighty-year-old structure were broken by shots,. and a sharp instrument was used to make holes in new curtains. A mail box belonging to Jeppe Jepsen has been taken from the property and thrown inside the building. St. Mary's of McHenry stole the big prize, the championship of the Elgin Regional Diocesan; basketball tournament in St.' Edward's high school gym.' They beat the pre-tourney! favorite, St. Patrick's of St.; Charles, 33-28.
