LENORE FRISBY It has been suggested that the image a city projects is merely the reflection of the persons who live in it. If the City of McHenry projects an image of a pleasant mixture between small town sincerity and big city leader ship. then it's due primarily to its inhabitants--persons such as Lenore Frisby. Miss Frisby ("I'm not a women's libber") is a lifelong resident of McHeni*y. who truly reflects the various moods of the city she has helped shape. On one hand there is Lenore Frisby. vice-president of a major financial institution in town, providing "big city leadership", making recom mendations. and giving sound fiscal advice to community residents. On the other hand there is Lenore Frisby, founder of the Business and Professional Women's (BPW) club, whose" purpose is to aid women who need help, and reflects the "small town sincerity" which everyone hopes McHenry never loses. And, of course, not to be forgotten is Miss Frisby's in famous Irish humor. No one who was there, will ever forget" her performance at the retirement dinner and roast for Thomas Bolger and Earl Walsh. Possibly, Miss Frisby is best known for her initiating BPW. The organization is now in its seventh year of operation. "I was a member of the Woodstock BPW," she ex plained. "And I felt the need for one in McHenry, so I gathered some women together, and we formed it." BPW is an international* organization whose aim is to help women in business. "We give two scholarships to girls for continuing their Story series and photo by Jeff Bonato education," she explained. BPW also sponsors a Girl Scout troop, and we just voted to sponsor a woman who is taking a course dealing with the rescue squad. "Working in a bank really helped to get BPW started," Miss Frisby said. "Coming in contact with so many people, made it easier to get the initial twenty-five members needed to form a McHenry chapter." Besides being a big booster of BPW, she is also a big booster of the town she has called "home" her entire life. "I can remember McHenry as a small town," she reminisced. "I'm just a big McHenry booster. While I've seen some bad elements come in, the new people have brought about some excellent changes also." Miss Frisby has been in volved in banking for thirty- three years, first as a secretary, and now as a vice- president and trust officer at McHenry State bank. But there are times when she must enjoy being away from it all. the bank, BPW, and her work with the Cancer society. At those times, Lenore Frisby goes on the water. "I'm a real water lover," she said. "I love the river and I enjoy fishing. "I cherished the view from the old bridge, and am sorry it's no longer there." If she ever stood on that old bridge and glanced down into the water below, the reflection she would see, would be an image of what the City of McHenry is all about. For Lenore Frisby has helped make the City of McHenry the fine city it is today. IT'S EASY, IT'S FUN, IT'S FREE! 3 x 5 COLOR PORTRAIT JUST COME IN AND "SAY CHEESE".
