Brian Miller put on an outstanding offensive performance as he had 14 baskets and -6 free throws for 34 pts. to lead the Warrior attack Howell put the Vikings ahead 2 to 0 in the opening minute, but Milelr countered with a basket, and the Warriors were never headed again during the evening. The hot hand of Billy Hurckes in the opening period kept the Warriors going, as Bill had 5 baskets, and the Warriofs led 18 to 17 at the period. In the second period the Warrior defense put the clamps on the Vikings, and with Miller, Paulsen and Deener putting the ball through the hoop, the Warriors left the floor at the intermission leading by 10, 37 to 27. In the third period Hurckes again hit the hoop with ac curate consistency and along> with Miller, Knox, Deener, anil Durkin the Warriors main tained their lead and went into the final eight minutes leading 59 to 47. The final period, defense was thrown to the wind, as both teams ran and gunned scoring a total of 57 pts., 29 by the Vikings. In a span of 23 seconds, Brian Miller canned three baskets, and took any hope the Vikings had of winning the game right out the door. The win was only the second since Christmas, both over Crown. The Warriors finished with a record of 5 and 11 in conference play, while the Vikes were 0 and 16. Tonight would be a good tihne as any to at least start the trek to Rockford. they will have to pray that some newcomers or rookies come through this year. Sometimes a team hits the jackpot when a rookie or two surprises everybody. .Mark Fydrick was a good example last year when he lit a fire under the Detroit Tigers. He wasn't even listed on the spring programs. Marie Yegge told us the exact number of days until we celebrate the memory of that great Irish saint, St. Patrick. Somebody sent him a catalogue and a few packs of seed last week. Maybe everybody ought to plant a garden. They are now throwing a scare into us about a food shortage since drought areas won't be producing much this year. Natural gas and oil are piped thousands of miles. Why not pipe water?
