Poor shooting on our part. was most frustrating lie then ;.d»1eU. When your shooting goes so do other phases of your game, passing, the running of patterns etc ' From a defen sive standpoint, the Warriors didn t do too bad but when you can only shoot 25 percent, you are not going to win many ball games Even though the W arriors did not display what I would call good basketball, in all fairness to them they did not give up. even throughout the season, they played the^ best, and what more can we ask of any group of boys, win or lose Warriors, regardless of your loss we as fans are proud of you. you did your best, and that is all anyone can ask of you Keep your heads high, remember it is only a game and a season Life is a little more than playing basketball BOX SCORES McHENRY fg ft Pf «P Miller 4 4 1 12 Deener 0 0 2 0 Partenheimer 4 2 2 10 Hurckes 4 0 3 8 Knox 1 0 2 2 Phillips 3 3 2 9 Totals 16 41 WOODSTOCK Horner 6 2 4 14 Genot 3 7 2 13 Nolan 3 1 2 7 Schwebke 3 4 3 10 Edens 1 0 4 2 Schroeder 2 0 4 Totals 50 Woodstock 6 10 14 20 50 McHenry 8 9 10 14 41 EARL WALSH fe" So I Hear SPORTS EDITOR BOWLING By Dick Kabbitt Any hopes that the Warriors had of advancing to the Hock- ford Sectional tournament next week were ended Wednesday night when Wo9djstock defeated them 50 to 41 In one of the poorest exhibitions of basketball displayed in many a day. the Blue Streaks out rebounded and outshot tfre Warriors for the wm The first period opened with both teams displaying tour nament jitters, as they com mitted error after error with the Warriors finally coming out on the long end of an 8 to 6 margin The second period started out as a repetition of the first, as neither team could score in the opening minutes Finally Brian Miller hit for two quick baskets, and a minute later Jeff Par- tenheimer scored on a three point Diav at the 5 15 mark of the quarter, for a< Warrior 15 to « lead Then someone put the lid on the basket for the Warriors as they just couldn't seem to get the ball through the hoop In the meantime the Streaks began to peck away at the Warrior lead, and with 30 >econds remaining took a 16 to 15 lead Only Marty Phillips 20 footer at the 5 second mark put the Warriors into a 17 to 16 halftime margin In the early minutes of the third period the Streaks forged ahead, and the Warriors never did catch up Horner and Nolan put the Streaks ahead, and at the 4:00 mark Hurckes reduced It to a mere one 22 to 21 for the NO SHOT, as Warrior Brian Miller has all he can do to retain possession of the ball after Dave Edens of the Streaks blocks his attempt while <41 > Horner views the action. Miller was held to 12 points as the Warriors were eliminated from the Regional by a 50- 41 score.
