PAGE 17 - PLAINDEALER-WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13. 1977 McCullom Lake Mary Jo Farrell 344 1575 Procedure For Voting Outlined With the campaign for village officials nearing an end, please make sure you are planning to go to the beach house and vote Tuesday, April 19. All the candidates from both parties are counting on you to cast your vote election day. It is your responsibility to the com munity to let your opinion be known by casting tyour ballot for your favorite'candidates. For those of you who may be slightly confused about the mechanics of the voting procedure itself, (here are a few hints that may help you out. You may vote for your favorite candidates, no matter which ticket they appear on. You needn't vote a straight ticket, voting for all the candidates on one party alone, if you don't want to. You can split your balloting any way you wish, as long as you don't vote for more than one candidate for each position. I hope this clarifies things for some of you. See you at the polls! CELEBRATION Shawn Miller celebrated his birthday last week with a party for some of his friends, who included Michael and Roger Gates, Tony Martini, Mark Sword, Erik Nylander, and his brother Ryan. Snow changed plans for the activity planned by Shawn's mom, which was to be a bike ride through the village, so the boys enjoyed some indoor games, including a fish pond created by the birthday boy's aunts, Daureen and Denise Parenti. The bad weather did not dampen anyone's spirits, and a fine time was had by all. NOTE Note to L V. and P V. - you're only allowed one second honeymoon for every ten years, so watch it! WATCH OUT The good weather is finally emerging, and with it all the children on bikes, skateboards, and trikes. Please keep your eyes open for these little ones when you are driving, especially through the village itself. For some of the tinier tykes, this weather is all they need to get out of the house, and they don't know any better than to ride their tricycles out into the street. It is, after all, lots easier to pedal on the road than on the grass, right? So be careful, please. SPECIAL GREETINGS A very special happy bir thday to Dave Reid, who will celebrate his eighty-sixth birth day April 13. Have a nice day,Mr. Reid. BIRTHDAYS Happy birthdays go this week to Burt Lancaster April 15, to Terry Bailey and Roger Loewe, who have the dubious honor of sharing my birthday April 16, to Ray Osterby, who celebrates April 18, and to Richard Penny, whose big day is April 19. Hope we all have warm, sunny days to help celebrate. Don't forget to vote April 19! REGISTRAR RESIGNS After serving the village of Lakemoor and the surrounding area for the past few years, Alyce Kowal resigned the position of deputy registrar. She has enjoyed the job and meeting the people who come to register. If any of the readers are not registered as yet, you may call the village clerk at 385-1117 as she (Carol Schmidt) is now the deputy registrar. EGG HUNT RESULTS I had it on very good authority from Les Nejedly that the Easter Bunny was driven around in an open car through Fritzsche's Estates, Lakemoor and Lilymoor before he took part in the Easter egg hunt. Between thirty and fifty children came out Sheridan road in the yard of the Garbacz family. The Parents for Youth are working on the queen contest that will be taking place this summer. More information in later columns. BIRTHDAYS On the sixteenth Ray Embrey will celebrate his birthday. April 17, Jennifer Gosell will become one year older. ANNIVERSARIES On the seventeenth of April, two couples will be celebrating one more year of married life. They are Francis (Frank) and Margaret Coughlin, also Ed ward and Helen Povidas. A very happy anniversary to both couples. TIL NEXT TIME Calling Colleen Job-College Program Too Much Strain? BY COLLEEN DUDGEON I recently landed a super job with a company that's going to pay my way through night school. I dropped out of high school two years ago and then went back and got my diploma. Now I'm starting college and a job both. I'm afraid the pressure is going to be tremendous. I understand there are tests and papers to do all the time and with working I'm not sure how I can manage. I have to be at my best on the job or else I'll be unemployed and without tuition either. Do you have any ideas that will help me? Working Student Dear Working: You're going to be a pretty busy lady! I encourage you to take only a few classes in night school to start with. When you see how heavy your course load is going to be then you can adjust your schedule to meet those demands. Get in touch with your advisor at school, tell him or her your predicament, and maybe special tutoring arrangements can be made should you need them. Lots of luck, and con gratulations! high or taking drugs. I'm not into that scene at all and I've tried to stop myself from lecturing her. She doesn't need a nagging friend. I want so badly to help her get out of this mess before it's too late. How can I do this without appearing like an interfering old busy-body? Has A Friend In Need Dear Friend: You are certainly a good friend and let me tell you right from the start that I'm with you all the way. Don't worry about being a nag -- nag all you can and let her know that she's ruining her life. Show her the evidence -- look in any major magazine or news paper for an article about the harmful effects of dope and drugs -- and then get her to a professional if necessary.
