Durum Wheat " Plantings are expected to total 3.3 million acres, down 31 percent from last year but up 14 percent from Jan. 1. Other Spring Wheat Prospective planted acreage of 15.3 million acres is down 14 percent from 1976 and down 4 percent from intentions on Jan. 1. Feed Grains Acreage (corn, sorghum, oats and barley) is expected to total 129.6 million acres, nearly equal to last year. Food Grain Acreage (wheat, rice and rye) is expected to decrease 7 percent from last year to 79.5 million acres. (Includes the Dec. 1 estimate of 55.8 million acres of winter wheat and 2.9 million acres of rye seeded.) Oats Acreage intentions are 18.2 million acres nationally. Illinois oats acreage is 400,000 acres, down 15 percent from 1976. The McHenry high school track team finished second to North Chicago in a triangular meet held last week. The Warhawks won with7 81 points to the McHenry's 64. Mundelein finished third with 30 points. The results were the same in the sophomore meet, with the young Warhawks an easy winner. U of I Dads Plan Spring Meet May 13-14 Dads who have students at the University of Illinois in Champaign are invited to the ninth overnight spring meeting on the evening of May 13 and 14. It will be held at Allerton park, near Monticello, which is located 30 miles southwest of Champaign. For the first time, wives are also invited. There will be opportunity to hear reports from university staff members, conduct needed business,- share common concerns, socialize and relax. Interested families should immediately contact one of the McHenry county chairman of the Dad's association for registration details. Locally he is Dr. William Kohl, McHenry. Choirs Sing In Annual Concert The annual spring concert to raise money for the bi-yearly tuning of the restored Hut- chings organ will be held Sunday evening. May 15, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary's church, Woodstock. The Canticle choir will sing excerpts from Handel's "Messiah" and, together, both choirs will sing the "Gloria" from the recently composed Carillon Mass by Richard Proulx. The choirs are under the direction of Dr. Wesley Vos of Crystal Lake, who is associate dean of Music at DePaul university's School of Music.
