Sandy Madden presided over the meeting; Tina Steinmetz gave the pledge to our coun try's flag and Tami Steinmetz led the 4-H pledge. Mr. Doessel handed out tickets for the county 4-H skating party at the McHenry roller rink. George Madden and Bob Doessel are co-captains of our softball B team. They will notify us of the practices which will be held on the Frank Rudolph ball field behind Ringwood school. This is for boys and girls. We will play other B teams in the county. Tina Steinmetz gave a talk on the "Proper Care of Rabbits". It was quite informative. John Doessel talked on "Caring for Sheep". He told a lot about feed rations. Tim Watkins gave an illustrated talk about "Shearing Sheep". Tim showed us the different positions of the animals during shearing and the important feet angles necessary to hold the animal still for clipping. Three of our members attended shearing school in April at Amboy, 111. Lee Tomlinson gave a talk on "Wool - A Safety Fabric". Wool has a high ignition and burning temperature so it does not flame easily and cause bad burns. Our club tour will be held Sunday afternoon May 29. All members, their parents and family should meet at Ringwood school by 1 o'clock. We will visit each club mem ber's home to see the progress they are making with their projects. Following the tour we will play baseball, (4-Her's against the parents) and then go to the Ringwood church basement for a potluck supper. If you have any questions about this activity, call a member of the planning committee, Sandy Madden, Valerie Stade, or Lee Tomlinson. Kim Kantlehner of the Busy Three club has recently won two outstanding honors. She was selected top MC at the McHenry county Share-The- Fun program, and will be in the MC competition at the Illinois state fair in August. Kim has also been named the Suffolk Sheep Queen of Illinois. Kim has raised and shown prize Suffolk sheep for a number of years. Best wishes to you, Kim. These are both fine honors. June 4 is an important day for our club. Sheep showmen from all over McHenry county are invited to attend a clinic con ducted by barrell Hall of Sycamore. He will lecture and demonstrate from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the proper way to prepare a sheep for show competition. An animal must look his best to rank well under judging rules. Spread the word and make sure all 4-H'ers, families and friends take ad vantage of this opportunity. All participants should bring an animal to practice on, a trimming stand and trimming equipment. Lunch will be sold by our club. If there are questions, call Lee Tomlinson.
