IN MUSICAL REHEARSAL-Jean Catanzaro (Rose), Marian Central senior from McHenry, is pictured above in a recent rehearsal with Fraii McCormack (Albert) of Woodstock as they prepare for the hilarious spring musical, "Bye Bye Birdie." This popular comedy will be presented "in-the- round" Friday, May 20, Saturday, and Sunday with all performance at 8 p.m., except the Saturday show which begins at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office for all performances one hour before curtain time. Sorry - we don't know if they are boys or girls, but the kittens are 10 weeks old; box-trained, and frolicsome. Orangeade is orange and white; Felix Unger is a tri-color Calico. Call 312-658-7043. Bo* 205 • Crystal Lake, Illinois 60014 • (815)459-2641 By Estelle Atwell Bulletin -- House Bill 1000 to ban manufacture, sale and use of the steel jaw trap was defeated. Only one person's testimony describing its tor tuous effects was heard although a number of persons had flown to Springfield to testify about it. Mostly it was defeated because the "I'm a Trapper and proud of it" crowd lobbied in sufficient numbers and with organized activity for the defeat of the bill. Next time around the Humane Societies must do a better job of organizing their efforts to ban the trap in our state. What to do if your pet is lost - act immediately; don't wait until it's too late! Your number one enemy is recovering your lost pet is time. Time that was wasted thinking your pet would return. Your county animal control center in Woodstock is efficient. Its responsibility is to pick up stray dogs and after three days if not claimed offer them for adoption. Cats if picked up are not covered by the same waiting period and laws. Their fate is far more certain. Therefore, act im mediately to do the following: 1. Call your county animal control center. Give them an accurate description of your pet and supply a good photo if you have it: in McHenry county 815-338-7040; in Kane county 312-426-5958; in Lake county 312-689-6424. 2. Call WIVS radio station: 815-459-7000. 3. Call ARS (Amimal Rescue Service): 312-381-3915. 4. Call the Society of St. Francis (lost and found hot line) 312-259-6680. 5. Call your local Police department to alert them. Supply a good photo if you have it. Better yet, go in person and plead with them to be on the Jookoul 6. Call your area Animal Welfare associations: Helping Paws, 815-459-2641; Pet Welfare, 815-385-1771; South Elgin, 312-697-2880. Further tips: Check with your animal control center every three days. And tag your cat or dog. A tag eliminates the risk of your pet being con sidered a stray. Helping Paws maintains an office open Monday through Saturday from 10 to 2 p.m. Phone 459-2641.
