STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD When someone mentions Girl Scouts, people automatically think of badges, campfires, crafts and cookies. This has been the established image since the inception of the Girl Scout movement, and it has been very successful in the past, providing meaningful experiences for thousands for girls. In an effort to update the program, the old memorable traditions will not be dropped, but in addition, the girls' and adults' involvement in com munity services will be more strongly emphasized. For their first total neigh borhood project, the Valley View neighborhood responded to a plea from the FISH pantry and most of the troops collected food. One troop also donated one week's dues money for the purchase of perishable items. The public can expect to see and hear about many more ways the Girl Scouts in the McHenry area will be taking an active part in affairs con cerning their surroundings in the future.
