WAYNE GAYLORD PHOTO Artists are preparing for the twenty-first annual auxiliary- sponsored McHenry Country Art Fair to be held June 3, 4 and 5, at Parkland Junior high school in McHenry. "Whether it's watching the development of a favorite artist or discovering a new talent, you're certain to enjoy the Fair," stated Karen Pepping, co-chairman, of McHenry. Consisting of a One-Man show which features Sally Miller, McHenry; McHenry County college exhibit, gym- Mayor Guilty Of False Tax Return ( ' « Charles F. Miriani, IRS district director for northern Illinois, announced that Joseph Armondo of Fox Lake, Illinois pled guilty Monday to filing a false federal income tax return. Armondo, age 68, resides at 7425 Chevy Chase court, Fox Lake. He is the former mayor of Fox Lake, Illinois. An indictment dated Feb. 26, 1976, alleged that Armondo filed a false 1970 federal income tax return. Judge John Powers Crowley sentenced Armondo to two years' probation and a $1,000 fine. Under existing law, a person convicted of criminal tax of fenses, in addition to whatever sentence is imposed, is also required to pay the tax determined to be due as well as interest and civil penalites that may be assessed. The investigation of Armondo was conducted by special agents of the Internal Revenue Service Intelligence division . Former McHenry resident Elizabeth Liebman, who once put on a "one man show" at the annual Country Art fair, has now taken her paint brush down under, and is working in Australia creating art from the lens of a microscope. Ms. Liebman, now 28, and the daughter of the Charles Liebmaris, 410 S. Ridge road, McHehry, now translates what THE BUTLER'S ANTRY (caterers) nasium exhibit, and an ex cellent judged show, the Fair offers a wide and varied range of works of art. Entries include paintings, drawings, ceramics, sculpture, and fibre arts. Photography has become an outstanding contribution in the past several years. Ronald DeBouver, art buyer and director for Marshall Field & Co., will judge the fine art works in the six categories. Cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded. "Aside from the exhibited pieces, one will have an op portunity to watch artists at work, stated Lynn Schirmer, co-chairman, of Crystal Lake. "We are offering demon strations in fibre arts or macrame, ceramics, and painting," said Ms. Schirmer. These demonstrations will take place in the gymnasium exhibit. She went to Perth, Australia after Christmas and will remain there through the end of this month under a special research grant from the Chicago Field museum of Natural History. She is working with Dr. Alan Solem, a world authority on snails. He explores, dissects, and describes. She interprets. Solem is studying a rare kind of snails which were probably came into being ten ,, million years ago. Ms. Liebman then draws the snails, using magnification of over lOOx. She finds the work very rich and exciting, although she concedes that the work could be b a c k - d e s t r o y i n g , e y e - destroying, and soul- destroying. Ms. Liebman is most well known in this area for her modern art, and has won numerous awards at various art showings. : Some seeds, notably the le gumes, may sprout after a century or more. The deceased was born Sept. 30,1932, the son of Michael and Martha (Miller) Gorski. « Mr. Gorski was a printer for Mather & Son, Woodstock, for seventeen years. He was a Korean war veteran and a member of the Marian Fathers' club. He married Darlene (Liles) June 16,, 1956, in Harvard who survives. In addition to his wife, he leaves three daughters, Janet, Kathy and Gail, all at home; his mother, Martha Gorski of Woodstock; two sisters, Mrs. William (Carol) Nolan of Woodstock and Mrs. Raymond (Pamela) Marks of Denver, Colo, and relatives in the McHenry area. He was preceded in death by his father in 1971. The Schneider, Leucht, Merwin and Cooney funeral home of Woodstock planned visiting hours after 3 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at St. Mary's Catholic church, Woodstock, at 10 a.m. Friday with burial in Calvary cemetery of Woodstock. FRANCES SCHLEICH A resident of Pistakee Highlands for the past eighteen years, Frances (Sawicki) Schleich, died Monday, May 23, at McHenry hospital at the age of 72. She had made her home at 216 W. Nippersink. Mrs. Schleich was born Feb. 16, 1905 in Chicago. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic church, Spring Grove. She also belonged to the United Shoemakers union, Local 68E. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Steve (Geraldine) Vrbik of McHenry; three grand children ; one great grandchild; and a brother, Henry Sawicki of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in " 1973, and a son, Howard, in 1976. Visitation was held at the K.K.Hamsher funeral home, Fox Lake, Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Peter's church Thursday at 10 a.m. with burial in Acacia cemetery, Chicago. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of the deceased to the Fair Oaks Nursing home, Woodstock.
