CAREY SUMMER IN FLORIDA-Michael R. and Susan Ann (Sebring) Carey are making their home in Florida for the summer prior to a fall return to Ann Arbor to continue studies at the University of Michigan. The couple exchanged vows Saturday, June 4, in Michigan during a concelebrated Mass. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. David C. Sebring of Michigan and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carey of McHenry. Among members of the wedding party were two sisters of the bride and two sisters and three brothers of the groom from McHenry. A buffet dinner for 200 followed the ceremony. The bride is a 1976 graduate in dental hygiene from the University of Michiagan and is employed in that field. The groom graduated from Marian Central Catholic high school in 1971 and from the University of Notre Dame in 1975 with a degree in business administration. He will study law at the University of Michigan in the fall. Jr. before the Rev. Ralph Smith in the First United Methodist church. The couple repeated their marital promises during a 4:30 p.m. ceremony amidst a color theme of coral and white. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Miller of McHenry and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. George A. Haze, Sr. of Wisconsin. After a reception at Andres Steak House with 150 guests in attendance, the couple left on a honeymoon trip through Wisconsin and Minnesota. They are currantly making their home in Whispering Hills, McHenry. The bride graduated from McHenry Community high school in 1972 and received an associate in science degree from McHenry County college in 1974. She is employed for Northern Illinois Gas Co., Crystal Lake. The groom in a 1969 graduate of McHenry Community high school and is employed as a lineman for Commonwealth Edison, Crystal Lake. DeWANE STUDIO In a ritualistic ceremony conducted by District Deputy Mary Agnes Hartmann, and Ritual Coordinator* Elvina Summers, new officers were installed for a two-year term in the Catholic Daughters of America, Joyce Kilmer Court No. 573 June 16. Resplendent with Color Guards carrying Old Glory, banner bearers, tall candelabra, marching music and singing of the National Anthem, adding to the pledge of allegiances to the flag, church, country and the Catholic Daughters organization, the updated, simplified but im pressive ceremony had each robed officer-elect march up and light a candle before being conferred her official position. First came Monitor Jeanette Driscoll; then Treasurer Jiarian Kauth; Recording Secretary Oleva Clucas; Financial Secretary Clara Slegar; second Vice Regent Mary Freund; first Vice Regent Bertilla Freund; Mary Jean Lahs stood in for Mary Agnes Hartmann, regent. Dorothy Weber continues as organist. Color Guard mem bers were Marie Larkin, Laura Weber and Alvera Nye. Banner bearers Frances Widhalm and Olivia Bauer. Preceding the formalities, members and guests relished an appetizingly delicious potluck by hostesses Elsie Winkel, Dorothy Adams and committee. Regent Bertilla then called her regular procedural and final meeting of the season to order during which she expressed grateful appreciation to her cooperative officers and members in cluding Ann Marie Hellyer whose zealous efforts in processing a very fine C.D. of A. cookbook helped boost the treasury. Honored guests from Court Elgin 1195 were Regent Margaret Hunt; Lecturer Frances Baker; Recording Secretary Betty Dondalski, and their new Regent-elect Cecelia Braheny. An attendance prize was drawn by Frances Baker; another prize went to Olivia Bauer. Feted with singing for June birthdays were: Marge Cahill, Helen Grenkowitz, Cecelia Blake, Bertha Huff, Mary Jean Lahs, Ellen Sharkey, Mary Agnes Hart mann and Clara Slegar. Fun games were also wholesomely enjoyed. Summer meetings were dispensed with except an executive meeting in July and the monthly Downey hospital visits. The Court will convene Sept. 15, and the next Day of Recollection will be observed at R e s u r r e c t i o n c e n t e r , Ridgefield, Oct. 18. Highlight of the installation ceremony in this scribe's opinion was the glowing, sin cere, personal tribute by the new Regent Mary Agnes to outgoing Regent Bertilla for her many years of devotion, and summing it up briefly: "Bertilla is the Catholic d a u g h t e r . " G e n e r a l congratulations to the new officers were also exchanged. Both former and present regents extended to all, their best wishes, with prayers for a happy summertime. Court Joyce Kilmer con scientiously observes the Catholic Daughter's motto of unity and charity in multiple ways. Events will be reac tivated with the September meeting. Uncle Of Bride Concelebrant At Nuptial Mass •d A former McHenry man, William Edward Ritthaler, and his bride, Elizabeth Cooper Fajans of Wilmington, Vt., repeated their marital vows before the Rev. H. Dwight Blakeslee, uncle of the bride, and the Rev. Richard McGowan in Wilmington Saturday, June 18. Vocolist Sue Andrea was accompanied by Fred Homer on the guitar during the 2 o'clock ceremony. The altar was decorated with bouquets of white snapdragons and marguerites with pink and blue lupine. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Wayne D. Fajans of Wilmington, Vt. and the late Wayne D. Fajans. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Paul Ritthaler of McHenry. The bride wore an off white bridal gown of gauze with a belted empire waistline, a cape collar and V neckline trimmed with lace threaded with blue velvet ribbon. The lace pattern with ribbon was repeated on the kimona sleeves and at the hem of the ruffled full skirt. Lace which had belonged to the bride's paternal great grand mother was fashioned into a cap with a fingertip veil. Jean Cooper Fajans of Wilmington, Vt. attended her Otand sister as maid of honor with another sister, Wendy Duffield Fajans of Wilmington and Dorothy Henry of Chagrin Falls, as bridesmaids. The attendants were gowned in dusty pink gauze dresses with the V necklines and kimona sleeves trimmed with off white lace. The gowns were styled with belted empire waistlines. The groom was assisted by Guy Filip of Algonquin with groomsmen including Michael Ritthaler of McHenry, the groom's brother, and Wayne S. Fajans of Wilmington, Vt., the bride's brother. Mrs. Ritthaler wore a creamy yellow jersey knit sleeveless gown with a mat ching empire style jacket. One hundred guests toasted the newlyweds at the Brook Bound lodge, the home of the bride, following the ceremony. Residency will be taken up at 10372 Southwood, Apt. 304, Garrettsville, Ohio, after the couple return from a honeymoon trip to the Adirondack mountains. The bride will be returning to Hiram college, Ohio, for completion of her senior year. During the summer months she is a teacher in a recreational program in Troy, Ohio. The groom is a McHenry Com munity high school graduate and earned a BS degree in business administration from McKerdree college in Lebanon, 111. Script Form Analyzed By Expert At Meeting The next meeting of the McHenry Senior Citizens club will be Monday, June 27, at 7:30 p.m. at East Campus cafeteria. The program will be given by Miss Ethel Raue of Crysi Lake, a handwriting analyst At the club meeting Monday, June 13, there were 154 in at tendance when President Ralph Lockerbie called the meeting to order. The program "The Scientist - Who Needs Him?" was presented by Dr. Bernard S. Freidman of the American Chemical society. If reservations have not been made for the Arlington Park race track trip July 6, it is suggested that it be done promptly as the second bus is filling very fast. The Aug. 3 trip for the Lake Geneva boat trip with luncheon at the Play Boy club has only a few reservations left. The Chicago Loop bus trips are very popular and for the July 13 trip, contact Mrs. Clara Knetzer promptly. The annual club picnic at the Johnsburg Community grounds is in July and there will be more about this event at the next club meeting. Members bring their own picnic lunches, and the club furnishes the beverages. This is always a very enjoyable event - with lots of games and prizes. Executive Director Speaks At Local Center Marge Jones, executive director of the McHenry county Senior Citizen's council spoke to a large group at the McHenry Senior Citizen's Walk-In center Thursday, June 16. Ms. Jones explained the whole makeup of the council, its goals, funding and the many programs it has for aiding senior citizens. The Council is very busy helping to open Walk-In centers for senior citizens throughout the county. The McHenry center has been open six weeks and has already been declared a success by those who visit regularly. There are centers in Woodstock, Crystal Lake and Fox River Grove with - ad ditional centers slated to open soon. Ms. Jones introduced Mrs. Linn Oleson, nutrition project director for the council who discussed the Meet and Eat program soon to be instituted in McHenry county. Senior citizens will be able to meet and enjoy luncheon, well balanced with nutrition and good com pany. The McHenry center is located at the Moose Lodge on Route 120 and is open Monday 12 noon to 4 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday and thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Meyer-Egan Wedding At St. Mary's June 18 F. David Meyer of McHenry accepted the hand of Bonnie Jean Egan of Rolling Meadows in marriage Saturday, June 18, in St. Mary's Catholic church before the Rev. Eugene Baumhofer Soloist Elmer (Biff) Meyer offered musical selections including "Hand in Hand", "On This Day", "Oh Beautiful Mother" and "Give Us This Day" at the 12 noon Mass. Floral arrangements decorated the altar. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Barish of 926 Tower drive, Mount Prospect, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meyer of 3404 First avenue, McHenry. The bride wore a full length ivory lace bridal gown fashioned with an empire waistline and a scoop ruffled neckline. She wore a soft, wide- brimmed picture hat of ivory and matching pearl earrings and necklace. Marilyn Meyer of McHenry attended the bride as matron of honor with Jennifer Egan of Rolling Meadows acting as flower girl. The maid of honor wore a halter style full length gown of powder blue with a jacket and a complimentary wide-brimmed hat. The gown of the flower girl was also powder blue and her picture hat was trimmed with ribbon. She carried a basket of flowers. Randy Meyer was best man to his brother with Thomas Egan of Rolling Meadows as ring bearer. Two McHenry brothers of the groom, Jon and Joe, handled ushering duties. Both mothers of the bridal couple wore full length gowns of pink. Approximately fifty guests gathered to congratulate the newlyweds at the Chapel Hill County club after the Mass. The couple will make their home in McHenry after they return from a wedding trip to Ft. Meyers, Fla. The bride graduated from Forest View high school in 1971 and is employed as an in ventory control clerk. The groom is a 1967 graduate of McHenry Community high school and is a salesman. LESTER DOBBINS GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY--On June 18, 1927, the immediate families of Lester and Mary Dobbins gathered to witness the exchange of vows in the home of the bride before the Rev. Schriver. Fifty years later, the Dobbins' were surrounded by more than 100 friends and relatives at a reenactment of those vows at the First United Methodist church before the Rev. Ralph Smith. After the service, the Methodist women served dinner with the nephew of Mrs. Dobbins, Robert Hofmeier of Wheeling, offering grace, and Mary Lynn, a granddaughter, reciting a poem. A beautiful cake was make by Mrs. Robert (Gladys) Foote of Liberty ville, using the same decorations that she had used for the cake baked for Mrs. Dobbin's parents' fiftieth wedding anniversary. The couple have two children. Lowell Dobbins of Lake Zurich and Mrs. William (Ellyn) Iddings of Fox River Valley Gardens. Their grandchildren include Michael and Thomas Dobbins and Todd, Mary Lynn and James Iddings. They were among guests who attended an open house lawn party at the Dobbins home following the dinner.
