Built of insulation and fire brick, the new kiln will have a 30-cubic-foot interior and be fired with L P gas to temperatures as high as 2400 degrees fahrenheit. It will be used to fire glaze on the pottery MCC students will make in ceramics classes beginning in the fall semester. The kiln will be topped with a sprung arch and will operate on a down draft principle. The kiln is located within a wooden fence on the east side of the Main hall building, adjacent to the art room.
