JOHN DYCK DON PEASLEY PHOTO • Mr. and Mrs. John Dyck of Wouder Lake recently ob- . served their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a renewal of their vows at St. Mary's Catholic church, McHenry Saturday, June 25. The Rev. Eugene Baumhofer officiated at the 5 o'clock ceremony with friends and family in attendance. Former pi^Us of the couples' daughter, Mrs. Dolores Wines, acted as servers and Mrs. Celeste Mann of Richmond was soloist. Immediately after the ser vice, 275 guests enjoyed a tit- down dinner and dancing at the American Legion Post home. Master of ceremonies was the oldest grandson, Bill Wines, and toastmistress was grand daughter, Lynn Gust. On display were photo collages from the year 1915, depicting family generations through the teens, twenties, etc. Of special interest was a beautiful cake, decorated with the china porcelain figurines which had . appeared on the orginal wedding cake. The affair was hosted by Mrs. Dolores WinesW Wonder Lake, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dyck, and their four grandchildren and spouses. They included Bill and Mary Ann Wines of DeKalb, Steve and Lynn Gust of Crystal Lake, Herb and Mary Burt of Waukegan and Michael Wines, at home. A special guest of honor was the mother of Mrs. Dyck who is 88 years of age and traveled from Neshboro, Wis. in order to attend the event. All of Mrs. Dyck's brothers and sisters were there to congratulate the couple, including a sister from Schiller Park who acted as matron of honor at the wedding fifty years ago. Guests came from Niagara Falls, N.Y., Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. Mr. and Mrs. Dyck were married in Chicago at St. Helen's Catholic church June 25, 1927*. Thomas Miller Enjoys Second Birthday Twice Thomas Miller enjoyed the celebration of his second bir thday surrounded by family and friends. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. David E. Miller of McHenry, hosted a gathering at their home recently. Guests who enjoyed dinner and- a special ice cream cake in cluded Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller of Johnsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Miller of McHenry, Rev. Eugene Jung of Aurora, a cousin, and Mrs. Emma Jung of Freeport, an aunt. A few days later, the family traveled to New Jersey for a celebration at the home of grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Izbicki where aunts and uncles also feted the youngster. Diamond-Opal Gift Necklace Worn By Bride Lori Lyn Parker wore an opal necklace surrounded with diamonds, a .gift from the bridegroom, Gerald "Lee" Pride, when the couple repeated nuptial vows before the Rev. Herman Graef Saturday, July 2. The lovely ceremony took place at the Zion Lutheran church at 5 o'clock The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell M. Soloist selections sung by Sandra Garske included "Wedding Song", "Because", and "One Hand, One Heart". The bride was gowned in white polyester knit fashioned with a deep sculptured neckline, an empire waistline silhouette with a full skirt and chapel length vol. The bodice, long straight sleeves with flared cuffs, and veil were, trimmed in Venice lace. She carried a cascading nosegay of baby red roses, miniature white carnations and blue pomp dairies surrounded with baby's breath and varigated ivy. Lynne (Thorne) Waller of Woodstock attended her friend as matron of honor while two sisters of the bride, Mrs. ftathi Mazzone and Mrs. Barbara Miller, acted as bridesmaids. Floor length gowns of L«_. blue polyester knit, styled with . empire waistlines, long flared sleeves and horseshoe necklines trimmed with white lace borders, were worn. Each wore an engraved necklace, a gift from the bride, and carried a bouquet of blue pomp daisies, pink carnations and white mums accented with baby's breath. Friends of the groom assisted him and included Ken Olson of McHenry as best man and George Ray of Waukegan and Frank Baccia of McHenry as groomsmen. Frank Mazzone, the bride's brother-in-law and Doug Pride, the groom's brother, both of McHenry, handled ushering duties. Mrs. Parker wore a floor length, long sleeved Grecian styled dress of shrimp colored knit fabric. Immediately after the ceremony. 135 friends and relatives congratulated the newlyweds at'the Johnsburg Community club. The couple will make their home at 4010 Kane avenue, McHenry, following a honeymoon trip M Mauston, Wis. with a few days spent at the Wisconsin Dells. The bride graduated from McHenry Community high school in 1975 and recently from Rockford Memorial hospital, School of Radiology. She is a radiologic technician at St. Therese hospital, Waukegan. • The groom attended Grant Community high school and is a quality control inspector at Baxter laboratories, Round Lake. J Bus Tow- Set July 13 The Woodstock Fine Arts association will sponsor a bus tour to Chinatown in Chicago Wednesday, July 13. The bus will leave the Ace parking lot on Rt. 47 at 9 a.m. to arrive in Chinatown at 10:15. Luncheon was served at 12:30 p.m. Following luncheon, Alice and Leta Clark gave a tour of their conservation project, for which the Klshwaukee Trail chapter of DAR has received national recognition. (DON PEASLEY PHOTOGRAPHY) This year's McHenry County Fair will mark the twenty-fifth year a 4-H king and 4-H queen will be crowned, and in honor of the past kings and queens, a dinner is planned Saturday night, July IS. Mrs. Cindy Gardner, Solon Mills, a former 4-H queen, is serving as committee chair man along with others who were honored in a special way during their 4-H careers. , * The public is invited to the dinner and mahy of the former 4-H kings and queens have indicated they plan to attend. The evening will be one of sentiment, reminiscing, greeting old friends, and talking about the 1977 county fair which will be Aug. 3-7. The dinner will be held at the old courtroom in the old courthouse on the dty square. A reception begins «tSv30p.m< and the dinner wiUbe at7:30 p.m . tickets are available at the Extension office, Farm Bureau office and from committee members. Others on the committee include Charlotte Thompson, David Gardner, Linda and Barbara Rich, Sue Kuhhnan, Steve Borhart, Larry David son, and the present 4-H king and queen, Dave Gieseke and Jean Slater. Also assisting are Extension advisers, David Plocher and Kathi Heberer. Many have helped with the king and queen program each year--members of the Ex tension council who selected the finalists; 4-H Extension advisers through the years, and members of the Kiwanis club, which initiated a big trophy to acknowledge the royalty selected each year. Quarterly Council Meet For Senior Citizens Set The summer quarterly meeting of the McHenry Senior Citizen's council will be held in the Harvard City hall, 201 West Front street, Friday, July 22, at 1:30 pm. Immediately after the quarterly meeting, a special meeting will be held, the purpose of which is to amend the eoundl by-laws rimng«ng the starting date of the fiscal year from July 1 to Oct. 1, to coincide with the fiscal year of tiie Federal government. In the past few months much has happened of importance to all seniors in the county, such as the councU being awarded the Nutrition grant and in the council becoming independent of McHenry County college. These and other subjects af fecting seniors will he discussed. Those present will have the opportunity of becoming acquainted with Jan Nigg, wfio will direct the new Day Care program at Valley Hi Nursing home, and will be informed on the current status of the program. A summary of the Meet and Eat program will also be nresented.
