ENT TO McHENRY FLA1NPEALER - PAGE 19 - WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 3. 1177 Touring in a package Travel agents report that never before have package tours been as popular with Americans as this year. Yet Discover America Travel Organizations (DATO) says many Americans are still unfamiliar with package tour travel. A package tour is a com plete travel itinerary, pur chased through a retail travel agent, at an inclusive price offering several travel ele ments which would other wise be purchased separately by a traveler. ~ A major advantage of the package tour is that it en sures in advance transporta tion, accommodations, ad mission to selected attrac tions, entertainment, meals and many times even gratui ties. And the traveler knows in advance the total cost of the package. A package tour can in clude a variety of elements tailored to the needs and de sires of the individual traveler. They may include any or all of the following ele ments: transportation by air, motor coacn, cruise ship, rail or rental car; transfers, lodging and meals; sightsee ing, attractions and enter tainment; golf, tennis, ski lessons and other sports; and gratuities and taxes. Package tours allow con sumers to buy travel as if they were purchasing a new automobile. By shopping through your local retail travel agent, you can choose the vacation which best suits your desires and budget. And you can, as with a new car, purchase additional options which are available. Traveling fun with wee ones It's easy to travel with children today, and in fact, the U.S. travel industry goes out of its way to let you know children are welcome. Whether traveling by auto mobile, airplane, bus, or rail, taking children can be fun. For example, hotels and motels have sprung up along the highway which usually offer reduced rates for chil dren under a certain age. Also, says Discover Amer ica Travel Organizations (DATO), transportation companies offer reduced rates for children. Airlines, bus companies and rail lines usually offer free passage for children under two if they do not occupy a seat Children under 12 usually come aboard for half price. Many transagptation com panies also oner games, puz zles and books. A special incentive to bring along the kids is the number of theme parks which have been built in recent years. They offer ad venture, excitement, rides, and fun for all ages, and hav ing the children along pro vides parents with a great excuse to have a good time, too! And, children usually enter at half price as well. Sozci!
