This newly formed conference organization not only includes athletic activities, but was formed to encourage com­ petition among local schools in other areas as well. Some of the anticipated activities include: sharing in-service speakers, teacher and student exchanges, art and science fairs, as well as music, speech, and debate contests. Air schools participating share the common philosophy that wide-spread participation and good healthy, competitive experiences are more im­ portant than a "win at any price" philosophy. The con­ ference also meets several other needs of the participating schools: 1. It provides for reduced transportation costs because of the proximity of the schools involved. 2 It affords a more viable form of competition since all schools involved are ap­ proximately the same size. 3. It maintains and preserves a lot of local and traditional interest in competition since the communities so nearly overlap with one another. Eight high schools from four local school districts are the Charter members of the con­ ference. These include Cary- Grove, Crown, Crystal Lake Central and South, Dundee, Jacobs, Woodstock and McHenry high schools. This Fox Valley conference is an affiliate of the Northeastern Illinois Suburban association. The organization of the conference itself is made up of several committees.' The Superintendent's committee, presided over by Robert Swartzloff, acting superin­ tendent of McHenry High School District 156, is con­ sidered the board of control and assumes the budgetary responsibility of the .organization. >0. Gregory Johnson, principal at West campus, heads the Principals' committee which is the organization's official decision­ making body. Setting up athletic schedules and making recommendations regarding athletic rules and regulations is the responsibility of the Athletic ^Directors committee. Macaroni and Crab--eat 8 oz. elbow macaroni 1 c cooked crabmeat 1 c green pepper chopped 1 c chopped celery % c chopped pimientos Vi c slivered almonds 3 hard cooked eggs chop­ ped <- Vi c mayonnaise 2 t salt Pepper to taste Code macaroni by direc­ tions.
