"Producers who hold 1976- c^op wheat that is not under government loan are eligible to sign a purchase agreement with the Commodity Credit Corporation •(CCC)," Jim Lucas, county executive director, McHenry county ASCS Office, said. "A purchase agreement signed before Feb. 28, 1978 commits CCC to buy 1976-crop wheat next March at the county loan rate." The loan rate in McHenry county is $2.34 per bushel. Under the purchase agreement, the producer may still sell the wheat on the open market before the March delivery date. In this case, the producer need only to inform CCC of the sale, and the pur chase agreement wil l be voided. If a producer signs an agreement before Feb. 28, he may also convert the purchase agreement to an extended loan. If the agreement is converted, the wheat would move directly into the food grain reserve program, and the producer would be paid an extra twenty cents per bushel to cover the first year's storage costs.
