SEPTEMBER 14, 1W There's An Answer '•*.m (by Norman Vincent Peale and Ruth Stafford Peale) Wife Hasn't Long To Live Q. My problem is: The doctor tells me my wife can live an indefinite time or six months. I don't want her to know it How can I cope with this problem? Please help me any way you can. A. You will have to be as natural as you possibly can. Try to maintain a normal, loving attitude toward your wife. Devote . yourself to making her happy and filling your lives full of Do interesting things together in a normal, happy way as best you can. Let us send you, without charge, the story of Orville Kelly, who faces the same problem and has overcome it by his philosophy of "Make Today Count." It will help you, we are sure. Anyone may havea copy by writing to us in care of Box 500, Pawling, NY, 12594. Daughter's Reputation Hurt By Church People Q. My husband and I went out of a church that slandered our daughter's reputation after she was a victim of assault with • dangerous weapon with intent to rape. That is how the state charged her attacker. He pled guilty on lesser charges of assault with a gun and is on five years' probation. We must be stupid as we feel no shame or humiliation. We thank God, who protected her from harm, and her eyewitness, who got her help through the sheriffs department. It has hurt us deeply. Surely this is not a church's role in the community! What is your answer? A. Of course it is wrong for a church to slander anybody's reputation. But one wonders just how a church could do that. Or was it, rather, a few people in a church who talked slanderously? Is it quite fair to blame a church for what one or two or even several members might do? We suggest that you talk this matter over with the pastor, who certainly would not want anyone in his church to be hurt Should She Drop Him? Q. I am going with a 77-year-old man since my divorce. I am 50. His children disapprove of me. I am sure he loves me. We do have good times but something is missing. I know God is my answer but not his. Should I drop him? You see, I care for him also. Please help me if you can. A. As long as "something is missing" in a relationship, it would seem inadvisable to marry. If the feeling you have for the man is not 100 percent before marriage, the situation could easily deteriorate after marriage. Also, based on a lot of experience, we have grave doubts about the success of a marriage where one partner thinks God is important and the other does not This is a pretty basic cleavage. (Perhaps you would like to find an answer for yourself to a problem that you can share with others in There's An Answer! If there is something you would like to ask Dr. and Mrs. Peale to discuss in this column, write to them in care of Box 500, Pawling, NY 12564.) 7T B&UH3H3 LiMilED 1220 N.GEEN ST M=HENR.Y.it.S°o50 Ju.iutw /.• ntr IWi I r v h";, '>•">111 > in "> charia accounts jift C6ftirICtttGS o-c o- -o&m Q0<0 • • • • •a-- A ftiiy*0l® Atari* Why! * IT HAPPENS e/EKY YEAR PURINE "THE HPLIPAYS.
