The couple were greeted by the Rev. Richard Wright at an archway banked with floral arrangements for the 7 o'clock ceremony. The maid of honor wore ti dark green dress trimmed with tiny white daisies while the bridesmaids' dresses were of daisy-trimmed mint green. Courtship Years Commemorated In Poem At Wedding When David Thomas Lawson met his bride, Carolyn Lee Mierzwa, at the altar of the First United Methodist church, he recited a poem he had written about their four years of courtship entitled "Our Relationship". The 4 p.m. ceremony, written by the groom, was conducted by the Rev. Ralph Smith Saturday, Oct 1. Terry Huck and Allan Cook, friends of the bridal couple, sang selections including "Top of The World", "You Make Me Feel Brand New", "Wedding Song", "We've Only Just Begun", "You And I", and "Happy Heart". They were accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Jeanne Lugwig, also a friend of the bride and groom. The bride is the daughter of Ms. LaVerne Walters of McHenry and Norbert Mierzwa of Rockford. The' groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lawson of McHenry. The bride was lovely in a gown of» white sheer nylon designed with a high Victorian ruffled collar, lace detail on the bodice in a bib effect trimmed with ruffle and long bishop sleeves accented with streamers of alencon lace. Her A line skirt featured a deep double ruffle at the hemline edged with lace and swept into a chapel length train. A circular cut veil edged in alencon lace, a fingertip veil and blusher veil fell from a Juliet cap. She carried a bridal handerchief her mother had carried at her wedding, wore a garter of lace and handsewn pearls made by the maid of honor and white bell earrings given to her by her godmother. A bouquet of white roses and stephanotas was carried. The bride's cousin, Carrie Schroeder of Rogelle, 111., attended as maid of honor. The groom's twin sister, Diana Nye of McHenry, Mary Beth Harbecke of McHenry, Deborah Pintozzi of McHenry, and Shannon Lynch of Ohio, assisted as bridesmaids. The attendants were gowned in flow length dresses of qiana with the bodice styled with spaghetti straps and an empire waistline draping into a full pleated skirt. Chiffon waist length capes were worn with the maid of honor in a light melon ' color and the bridesmaid's gowns of rust color. Artie ice heart pendants with matching earrings, a gift from the bride, were worn, and baskets of mums and dried flowers in fall colors were carried. ' The groom's brother-in-law, William A. Nye, Jr. of McHenry, handled the duties of best man while groomsmen included Kevin Greve of California, James N. Heard, Jr., McHenry brother-in-law of the groom, Sidney J. Tobias, the groom's brother-in-law of Connecticut, and Keith Mierzwa, the bride's brother of McHenry. Ushers were Michael Lynch of Ohio and Michael J. Cajthaml of McHenry. Mrs. Mierzwa chose a semi- formal length gown of mint green qiana with a V neckline and long sleeves while the prom's mother chose a deep pink formal length gown styled with a V neckline and chiffon sleeves. The bridal couple were toasted by 220 family members and friends at the Chapel Hill Country club following the ceremony. The beautiful wedding cake was topped by an ornament designed and made by the mother of the bride. A honeymoon trip to the Pocono mountains, Pennsylvania, was planned by the newlyweds after which they will make their home in Elgin. The bride, a graduate nurse of Rock Valley Nursing with an associate in applied in science, is awaiting licensure as a registered nurses. The groom received an associate in accountancy from McHenry County college and is employed as a business manager for Cal's Inc. of Dundee, 111. "Treasures 99 Abound At Rummage Sale The semi-annual rummage sale at the Ringwood church is set for Friday, Oct. 7,9 a.m. to 5 p.m, and Saturday, Oct. 8, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. There will be the usual homemade goodies to compliment the "coffee and". The ladies Will be working all weds preparing for the sale in order to have things sorted and marked for the shoppers convenience. Donations from attics, basements or just sorting in general should be brought to the church by Wednesday, Oct. 5 at noon so workers have time to finish the job.
