&2£4 - PLA1NDEALER - WEDNESDAY. NOVEMBER 31, IfH ^ CHURCH SERVICES Wonder Lake 6Me Church 7501 HOWE DRIVE, WONDER LAKE, ILLINOIS Each week I am reminded that our wondarful Lord offers many "fringa bene!it»" that occompany salvation. Some of thoto "benefits" or* littod in Psalm 103:1-5. It is my firm conviction that, everything also being •quaI, tho contented believer in Christ will live longer, foal bottor, and enjoy life for mora, in ovory wholosomo way, than his neighbor who doasn't foar tho Lord, nor trust His door Son. Homo life is far mora congenial for tho Redeemed af the Lord, that is, if they oHowrthe love of God to rule in their hearts and lives. Thank the Lord for oil His "fringe benefits". Sincerely, Rev. STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD Lakemoor-Lilymoor Margaret Karas 385-4934 College Chaffer Includes News Of Local Sfudenfs Jeffrey Blake, in his second year at McHenry County college, has been listed in "Who's who among college students". This honor is given to students chosen from over 700 colleges, who achieve academically, show leadership qualities and future potential. Congratulations, Jeff. It's great to have our area represented. David Blake, Jeff's brother, is in his third year at University of Illinois, studying engineering and tutoring math. Jeff will probably be joining David at U. of I. next year. v Maribeth Karas, our favor|te ^youngest daughter, is home from Wheaton college for the holidays. She spent two days at Bethel college in Indiana visiting former McHenryite Mary Ann Winters, but was home for the big bird day. And we were all thankful. SCOUTING The pack meeting of Troop 131 at Hilltop school, Nov. 17, saw the results of what a father and son can accomplish for a baking contest. Brian Baker and son, Billy, entered a teddy- bear decorated cake. Lily Ann said she and the girls left during the operation in self defense, returning in time to see the men of the family eating the bottom of the bear ears because they were too tall. She almost decided to leave again (permanently) when the mess was surveyed. The cake didn't win first prize as Brian thought it would, but he and Billy had a great time of sharing. LADIES LEAGUE Fun night for the L.L.L.L. was Wednesday, Nov. 16. Due to the large turnout there were four winners at the gaming tables. Helen Para, Joan Delatorre, Carol Voelke, Connie O'Rourke were the recipients of the prizes, with Jean Denber earning the booby prize. The hostesses were Anna Brzezinski and Carol Voelke. Lu Gravenstuk said everyone was looking forward to 0 thank ful Thanksgiving. Hers was to be spent with her family of five generations. There is no generation gap there. CARIBBEAN CRUISE Herb and Dorothy Fritzsche celebrated their thirty-fifth year of marriage by taking an eleven day Caribbean cruise, with stops at the Virgin Islands and Venezuela. All activities on board ship were interspersed with food and drink, and the sightseeing on shore always included local gastric delights. Herb's advise is to loose ten pounds before a trip, so yoiyvill be able to regain those and add I $&&& • SSSS®1®" Christmas Hours SSStJSi9 ̂ awwir]k "*• Our r> L"y»*yrZJ** FREE GIFT WRAPPING! ten more! SPECIAL DAYS Birthday wishes are sent to Phyllis Leske on the first of December, Tom Schmidt and Billy Cassell the next day, and Donald Vornkahl on the fifth. Chuck and Irene Thornton celebrate their wedding an niversary on the fifth, also. PETS In Lakemoor last week,, a young man's concern for animals was demonstrated by his rescue of an imperilled creature. The Hipwells pet duck had wandered out into the mud flats of Lily Lake, where great danger in the form of muskrat traps awaited Sparky. The unknown youth saw the situation, went out in the lake, managed to catch the duck, returned it to its cage, informed Louise of what he had done and left. Such concern resulting in action with no promise of reward is the basis for a humanitarian world. MORE PETS Home from veterinary hospital and recuperating from heartworm, is Willy, the Curt Fremmans dog. If the disease is discovered in time, it can be cured. A reminder: the heartworm pills should be given until Christmas. Thanksgiving joy was marred for the Lloyd Tomlin- sons, when their dog was hit by a truck on Lily Lake road. Betty was walking their dog, when he got loose and ran out into the slippery road and was killed. BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING Monday night, Nov. 21, was the monthly free blood pressure time at the Lakemoor municipal building. About fifteen people were in for a checkup. Alma Hueckstaedt was having hers taken and was somehow able to hear her own heartbeat, when all of a sudden it stopped! She asked the nurse what happened. "You just expired," said Maggie as she calmly went on with her work. See what excitement you're missing by ,not finding out where your pressure is at? GOD BLESS. Two Choral Groups Give "Messiah" Dec. 4 The Northern Illinois Choral association and the McHenry County college chorus are •busily engaged in final rehearsals of the "Messiah" and a Christmas cantata to be given Sunday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Thomas church, Route 176, Crystal Lake.
