Planning-Preparation Of Low Calorie Meals "Low Calorie Meals - Planning and Preparation" is the subject of a lesson spon sored by the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension service. The program will be held Dec. 6, 10 to 12 a.m. at the extension office, with a charge payable at the door. Judy Troftgruben, University of Illinois food and nutrition specialist, has incorporated games, activities, and lots of audience participation in her program on planning low calorie meals. A discussion on behaviour modification in weight control, what it is and how it works is also included in the program. The program will be given over Lelenet, which is a nunit that is plugged into the university thus enabling direct communication to university specialists. During this program, Ms. Troftgruben will be speaking from the University of Illinois. The program will start promptly at 10 a.m., so plan to arrive before this time. Plan Festive Dinner For Senior Citizens The Meet and Eat program, sponsored by the McHenry county Senior Citizen's council will be holding a Christmas party-dinner at Marian Central high school Dec. 22. Linnea Olesen. director of the Nutrition program, announced today the festive dinner will be heid as a "special event" in stead of the meals being served at the five Meet and Eat sites around the county on that day. The dinner, which will be served in the high school cafeteria at 2 p.m. Dec. 22, will also include entertainment by the stage band of Marian high school. Donations for the dinner will be accepted in the same manner as the daily meals at the walk-in centers. Reservations are necessary, and as there is a limit to the seating available, they should be made as soon as possible. The reservations may be made at any one of the Walk-In centers sponsored by the McHenry county Senior Citizens council, or by calling the council office at 338-6075 or 455-2660. Senior Walk-In Center Meals are served Monday through Friday at the Walk-In center beginning at 11:45. Reservations must be made by 2 p.m. the day before at 385- 8260. The menu for the week of Dec. 5 through Dec. 9 is as follows: Dec. 5: Turkey ala king- vegetables, steamed rice, waldorf salad, apricots and milk. / Dec. fi: Barbecue beef, parsley potatoes, green beans, chocolate cake and milk. STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD Hospital Specialist Lists Smoking Stresses Dr. Marang, specialist on internal diseases from McHenry hospital, was the guest speaker at the Nov. 19 wonder Lake Senior Citizen's club meeting. His lecture proved very interesting, stressing the effects smoking has in connection with the various diseases in the human body. His answers to the many questions by the members was really enlightening to all. The meeting was opened at 1 p.m, with the pledge of allegiance to the flag and the singing of "My Country 'Tis of Thee". The secretary and treasurer's reports were read and approved. A motion was then made to send plants and cards for Thanksgiving to members Irene Solinski and va Nelson who are confined nursing homes at the present time. Members were given the plans for the Christmas party at Andres Steak House Dec. 15. The cocktail hour is 6:30 and dinner served at 7:30 with entertainment and dancing to follow. An exciting night is planned for all. Members are urged to sign up at the next meeting. The Christmas party is open to any senior citizen of Wonder Lake who wishes to attend for an evening of fun. Reservations can be made by calling Helen Komoll or Mrs. Otto (Helen) Eckert, both of Wonder Lake. Bus seats are still available for the Dec. 13 shopping trip to the loop. Travelogue slides or movies will be shown at the Dec. 5 meeting which should prove very interesting. All senior citizens of Wonder Lake are welcome to come. Local Dancers To "Swing In The Holidays On Friday, Dec. 2, the Bachelors 'N' Bachelorettes, McHenry, will hold a Snowflake dance for intermediate square dancers at Valley View school, Rte. 120, from 8 to 11 p.m. Valley View school will be the scene of a second dance Friday, Dec. 16, again from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, the.group will host a Christmas dance for beginners and regular dancers. Beginners should have some knowledge about square dancing. Those participating should bring a $1 grab bag gift for a man or woman. Dancers are invited to join the fun.
