The McHenry varsity field hockey team evened its season record at 1-1, blanking Belvidere 4-0. The win comes in the wake of a 9-1 disaster at the hands of Woodstock in the season opener. Playing brilliant golf on a windy day, the McHenry varsity golf team captured the 21 -team Crown Invitational golf tournament by a whopping fifteen strokes. Gary Collins, McHenry, was appointed cross country coach for McHenry County college by the Board of Trustees at the regular meeting. McHenry will host an eight- team invitational tennis tournament behind West campus. Players from Antioch, Jacobs, Elgin, Elgin Larkin, Dundee, Grant and Wauconda will be featured as well as McHenry. * OCTOBER After a rain-delayed first round, Dick Rosing of McHenry won the Crystal Woods club championship by firing rounds of 78, 76 and 74 for a total score of 228. McHenry did no better than fourth in the tournament. Playing brilliantly under miserable conditions, the McHenry warrior vacsity golf team swept team and in dividual honors, winning the North Suburban conference golf tournament by a whopping 19 strokes. Playing in what could only be described as brutal conditions, the McHenry varsity tennis team performed well, cap turing third place in its own invitational tournament. Mike Burmann won the McHenry county crosscountry title for the second year in a row, covering the three-mile Woodstock course in 15:26. Despite Burmann's per formance, McHenry's varsity lost to champion Crystal Lake and Woodstock, placing third in the meet. At least it didn't rain. And the wind didn't blow. And it wasn't cold.
