NATAL DAYS Val Nothnagel, hostess with the mostest, entertained Bluebird friends at a slumber party given in her honor. The girls enjoyed each other's company til the wee hours of the morning. All it took was a few well chosen words by mom Lisa and all the girls were off in dreamland. TIMELY TOPIC With March's weather coming in like a lion, the Wonder Lake Garden club nevertheless had one of its most fascinating programs at the lovely home of Mrs. Helen GillUand. We were privileged to have William Howenstine of McHenry as our guest speaker, apply assisted by his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Howenstine. To illustrate the use of solar energy, a timely topic, Mr. Howenstine used beautiful slides from around the world. We tend to think of using the sun for a source of energy as a relatively new device instead of understanding its complete use in ancient civilizations. When you hang your clothes outside or make "sun tea" or dry fruits, vegetables and seeds, to the more sophisticated collectors harnessing heat for home, you are using the sun in harmony with nature and your life. Our deepest gratitude to the Howenstines for their most informative talk. Our next meeting will be Thursday, April 13, at the home of Mrs. Mickey Mettille, 7621 North drive, Wonder Lake, at 8 o'clock in the evening. B. Alderson, publicity chairwoman CHURCH NEWS The Church council of Nativity Lutheran church is sponsoring a smorgasbord dinner Saturday, April 22, with servings at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. Tickets can be obtained from church members.
