Dick Padlo is stationed at Shaw Air Force base and he took the Zell's on a tour of the base. David was thrilled to get to sit in an Air Force jet fighter. Then, all drove to Charleston SC., and to the ocean. They toured the city of Charleston and visited many of the beautiful historical homes and the open market. CALIFORNIA TRIP One week doesn't seem very long but Paul and Althea Waikington with Lee and Christer, managed to crowd a lot of sightseeing into a few days. They stayed with Paul's nephew and family, David and Loraine Waikington, and daughter, Lori, at Fullerton, Calif. Paul's brother and sister- in-law, Dave and Effie Waikington of Phoenix, Ariz., met them in California for a wonderful family reunion. Among the places they .isited were Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm, Disneyland and Newport Beach. They also toured Beverly Hills and Hollywood. The weather was a little cool with some showers but nothing to spoil a most enjoyable trip. The junior Walkingtons live right in the mudslide area so the folks got to see some of the devastation from the heavy rains. We're sure this trip will be one of the happieist memories Christer will have of his stay in the United States. . EASTER IN THE CITY Despite the weather Easter Sunday, Richard and Tina Gorski started out wfth their six children to spend the day and celebrate birthdays with her sister and family, Linda and George Lange. They traveled through snow, rain, sleet and hail, and as if that wasn't enough, they lost two hubcaps off their car due to the potholes in the road. They got off the expressway, made a loop around and managed to retrieve the hubcaps. Celebrating their birthdays together were Katie Gorski, age 5, and her cousin, Greg Lange, age with each en joying their own cake. Others joining in the festivities were great-aunt Helen Spillan, the other Gorski children, Steven, Michael, Matthew and twins, Phillip and Margaret; the Lange children, Mary, Joe and David. In addition to weaving in and around all the. potholes in the roads, they found that a lot of the side streets still had not been plowed out after the Janaury storm and they were driving in and over some very deep ruts in the snow. Monday evening, Katie's actual birthday, they were joined by grandpa and grand ma, Ted and Irene Gorski of Wonder Lake, for dinner at the restaurant of Katie's choice. It sounds like a very nice way to celebrate a birthday. BIRTHDAYS Happy Birthday to Dick Malsch April 12 and to Linda Billikas April 14.
