The Village of Holiday Hills Cheri Hoglund 385-3944 Rosemary Holtz * 344-0615 Hollz Trip To The Paradise Of The Bahamas Welcome to the country of 700 islands-islands that invite you to enjoy every experience imaginable. From the serene to the sophisticated, from the unusual to the adventurous. Bill and Rosemary Holtz found this pleasure-going paradise only 70 miles from the coast of Florida. The beautiful Bahamas with the colonial charm of history- rich Freeport, and the modern high-rise luxury hotels-the fashionable playground of the international set. Grand Bahama Island is a kaleidoscope of contrast. Our visitors enjoyed a spectrum of excitement, ranging from quiet native settlements and crystal waters to scenery fringing the, brilliant white beaches caressed by clear emerald waters. Bill and Rosemary were fascinated by the International Bazaar where exquisite shops carry the wares from many countries around the globe. They browsed through the exotic shops of Spain and Japan, France and Kenya. Sightseeing was a visual delight as the Holtz's enjoyed beautiful spots such as the Gardens of the Groves and the Hydro-Flora gardens of lush, dense tropical foliage, flowers and fruit trees. Nightlife is the bright life as Bill and Rosemary had the pleasure of indulging in the pastime of gambling at the largest casino in the Western world. They mixed and mingled with the international set who stake fortunes on a turn of the wheel or roll of the dice. Time stood still as they toured pic turesque villages. The delicious lunch of raw conch (you bring home the shell) was a taste sensation not to be missed. Sightseeing by bus familiarized our tourists with the area of Freeport. The business and shopping districts had the special gifts they were looking for. Like most busy cities Freeport has a "Millionaire's Row" and vacation homes of in ternationally known celebrities including Count Bassie. After visiting the western hemisphere's largest and most modern oil refinery and bunkering system a leisurely drive back home to the hotel was in order. A romantic midnight cruise in a glass-bottom boat was also enjoyed by our couple. Viewing sharks and baraccudas and other varieties of marine life by this method is the only way to see them, but brave Bill, avid fisherman, decided to try his rod and reel and catch one of those fellows. He was suc cessful in his quest and five unlucky groupers lost their home in the sea. A welcoming committee greeted mom and dad upon their arrival and Rosemary could be heard muttering "it is better in the Bahamas". EDDIE ATSEVEN Birthday boy Eddie Wegener enjoyed one of his finer moments as family and friends joined him to help celebrate seven happy years. His "song" was sung, games were played and cake and ice cream were eaten as Eddie's day flew much too swiftly (but not too swiftly for mom). The guests at this gala affair were Heather Belt;., Eric Hoglund, Debbie and Lori Holtz, Brian and Jay Hoven, and brother Phil. It was truly Eddie's shining hour. TEE FASHIONS One of our more attractive residents of our village, Phyllis Bryan, has been chosen as one of the models for a local golfing sports shop in the Town and Country Newcomers club dessert fashion show scheduled for Thursday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Chapel Hill Country club. Ticket sales will con tribute to a donation for the community organization F.I.S.H. and the evening's entertainment will include a performance from the jazz ensemble of McHenry Com- mumity high school. A very enjoyable time is planned. SCHOOL DAZE Having the gift of gab and being overly talkative are attributes most women would rather not be accused of. But in the case of Holiday Hills sophomore, Robin Fulmer, it is just these qualities that have earned her and her team a highly coveted first place trophy on McHenry high school's top rated debate team. The competition was tough but the debate team walked away very happy with three first place trophies. Congratulations. WOMEN'S CLUB The Holiday Hills Women's club elected officers to start off the new season. The President is Mary Ann Mahon; Vice- President, Dawn Hervey; Secretary, Marge Connell; Treasurer, Penny Appleyard; and Entertainment, Sherry Senn and Diane Weishaupt. VILLAGE NEWS The regular meeting of the village board will be held April 20 at Casey's hall. A discussion on the proposed uses of revenue sharing funds for the upcoming year will be opened to con cerned residents. Any written or oral comments may be presented at this time. All interested citizens., are en couraged to attend the meeting. A special meeting of the village board was held April 6. The possibility of assessments for paving our roads and in stalling sewers was discussed. The board members are ob taining estimates on the cost of such a project. Opinions, comments or criticisms are welcomed. Your trustees will be happy to answer any questions. The Holiday Hills Police department is alive and well in our village. They have been issuing tickets and warning motorists of speeding violations and to those not displaying vehicle stickers. The roads are in bad shape it's true, but patience is the only answer. Our overabun dance of snow and rain have created conditions that only dry weather will cure. Our village officials are aware of the problem and they are doing what they can to remedy the situation. Please be considerate when making phone calls to complain about road conditions. Also check that you have your vehicle sticker--that revenue pays the bills for road repairs and those who haven't pur chased their stickers shouldn't complain. HAVE A NICE DAY Pregnant, NEED HELP?
