Richard Zelke, who received the various ar­ ticles from Johnsburg folks, advised some of the unusual items available were pool tables, snow tires, old-type refrigerator (G.E. with round top) and stove to match, metal cookie cans, baby scale, rider mower, toasters, ice skates, etc. Generous people and mer­ chants cooperated in donating and helping with this project. We hope that the final results of their efforts will prove far beyond what they had an­ ticipated. BENEFIT RESCUE SQUAD Last Friday, May 19, 7 p.m., at McHenry high school, West campus, the Barbara Klein School of Dance, Ringwood, had a dance recital and bake sale for the benefit of the Johnsburg Rescue squad. The evening was enjoyable, the children were encouraged, and benefit given to the Rescue squad, who help all of us. B.V.M. LUNCHEON and card party, Wednesday, June 14,11:30 a.m., community club, Johnsburg. There will be a main dish, salads, dessert, coffee served, with table prizes. Tickets at the door or from members. BIRTHDAY PARTY Timmy Huemann had five candles on his birthday cake May 22, and a great day celebrating with Wendy and David, his sister and brother, Grandma and Grandpa Huemann, Grandma and Grandpa Weingart, uncles, aunts and cousins. SYMPATHY To the family of Arthur Thelen - a member of St. John's parish, who passed away May 13, at the age of 80. He was buried in St. John's cemetery, Tuesday, May 16. We will keep all of you in our prayers. CONFIRMATION Jon DeBaetes, 13, of John­ sburg, was confirmed on Mother's day, May 14, 2:30 p.m., in Zion Lutheran church, with a class of twenty-three. The celebration was at his house afterwards with his godparents, Joyce May and James Paetsch attending. Grandmother Dunn was there, as well as Grandparents Lois and Albert DeBaets, Great Grandmothers Schwartz and DeBaets, aunts, uncles, cousins, Mom, Dad, brothers and friends. It was an en­ joyable time for all. VISITORS Grandpa and Grandma Gunderson, Hillcrest Place, had the pleasure of the com­ pany of two grandsons from Glen view, 111., Carl and Curt Wilt, and Paul Klein, John­ sburg, Saturday, May 13. Hearing Mobile Unit in McHenry May 26 A Hearing Mobile unit will be in the McHenry Market Place Shopping center May 26. Sponsored by the McHenry Lions club, the Hearing Mobile Unit will be giving free hearing tests from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. No appointments are necessary for the screening, which takes approximately ten minutes. One to six persons can be screened at a time. The screening will be con­ ducted by a clinical audiologist. This is a rare opportunity for people to learn about hearing loss and at the same time have their hearing checked. Information about causes and effects, symptoms and treatments of hearing loss wUl be available on the unit.
