Happiness is...welcoming David and Kathy Lewis, newcomers to Wonder Lake, who are now living on Widoff road in Wonder View. Happiness is...congratulating Ed and Mille O'Brien, who celebrated their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary Sunday, June 4, with a Mass at Christ the King church, followed by dinner at the Mill inn with their family. Later in the day, Bud and Marilyn McMahon stopped by to share in the celebration. Happiness is...a "newsy" phone call from Tracy Stolle. Happiness is...taking the kids for a "free"ride on the RTA (and reminding them when we got off the bus that traffic does NOT stop for the RTA as it does for the school bus, so they must stop and wait and NOT walk in front of the bus.) Happiness is...being rightly proud of Wonder Laker Kathy Ahem, valedictorian of the Class of '78 at McHenry high. Congratulations, Kathy! Happiness is...welcoming "home" Don and Arlene Buss, who are now Arizona residents, but will be here for Father's day and will stay to visit Wonder Lake friends for a while. Epictetus United Way Views Budget United Way budget and allocations conferences continue through June. Joseph Devereauw representing the Illinois Children's Home & Aid society, left, outlines services and needs of agency.» for 1979 to members of Child Services panel of the United Way of McHenry County. Panel members^ from left, are Nancy Schulfer of Woodstock; Bev Longhway, McHenry; Robert Prendergast,', McHenry; Dick Kropp, panel chairman, Crystal Lake; Jim McNames, Crystal Lake; and John La Zonby, Crystal Lake. -ft* United Way budgeting and allocations is now under way as volunteer panels hear presentations by represen tatives of the eighteen different human service agencies comprising the United Way of McHenry County The chief merit of doing the detailed budgeting prior to the campaign is that a fully doc umented statement of needs, confirmed by budget com mittee study, is available for use in establishing the cam paign goal. Consideration of agency budgets is a twofold operation, involving study of services and program plans on the one hand and analysis of financial data on the other. The four budget and allocations panels give due emphasis to both. Since good budgeting is essential to sound United Way fund raising, the respon sibilities of the budget com mittee are second to none in the United Way. Members of the four hearing panels of the United Way are respected community leaders who ap proach their assignments with an impersonal and objective attitude of mind, a community viewpoint, and a willingness to understand the objectives and methods of the agencies which participate. The present series df» hearings., or conferences haw? been arranged so that* representatives of each agencV' car. personally present, explaih- and discuss the proposed program and budget. The purpose of these conferences te to get facts clearly on the tabf£ and to supplement through' face-to-face discussion the1 information previously sutf « mitted in writing **'• Future budget anfi« allocations conferences are scheduled. On June 12, Larry' Lund and his Health Servicefe! panel will conduct their^ hearings in McHenry.
