Nobody could recall those days better than Dona'd Givens. He worked for the Unti family for many years Besides that. Donald has a memory that covers early McHenry like few people can Like the Old Accordian Man, Donald plays those memory chords like nobody can NICEST REPLY "Who comes more often than I do'" "Who could be more welcome?" With a local touch: Paul Rabe. Senior graduate dt Woodstock High was chosen Most valuable tennis player by the 77 '78 varsity team Paul is a nephew ol the late Loren "Tommy"' Thomas and Adrian Thomas of McHenry. His parents are Vernon and Jean 1 Thomas > Kabe Loren "Tommy"' was one of McHenry High s all-time best lootball players Adrian played guard on McHenry s county cham pionship team back in 1925 when they defeated Hebron 22 to 19 He sank all of McHenry s free throws -- 4 "Zeke" Bacon, "Torchy" Krause, Dick Overton. Gus Freund and Jesse Whiting were on that famous team When Sib Whiting was injured and unable to play, McHenry fans thought our chances were mighty slim. But. the old spirit carried the team on to victory A county championship in those days was something great Latest figures show that home run production in the big leagues is down this year. Some batters say the ball has been deadened since last year. Pitchers say their skill was improved Take your pick PICKUPS: Today is the day we should do things before it is too late. Talk is cheap -- unless somebody hauls you into court. Talking too much is dangerous enough without talking out of turn.
