This was Beth's first suc cessful venture out into the world We will be expecting to hear more from this talented youn^ladv in years to come HOSPITAL NOTES "Mam?" Rose, as she is affectionately called by many who know her, is in , the McHenry hospital with a broken hip. the result of a fall last Sunday The McHnery Rescue squad was called and with their usual efficiency and care, transported Mama Rose to the hospital Why not send this dear mother of two of our volunteifl* firemen a get well card" And a donation to the rescue squad for their prompt response to trouble Also hospiaiized was eight- month-old Jimmy Holzrichter. Louise and Don Hipwell's grandson. He had pneumonia, a bad condition at any age Our get well wishes also extend to grandma Louise, who is still feeling the results of an auto accident STORMY WEATHER One of the results of the violent storm last Sunday was the death of a huge 80 foot poplar tree in the Richard Dunnagan's yard Fortunately, the tree is still standing, so the house and car were not damaged On the other hand, the lightning bolt managed to travel through the tree, into the well pit. and on into the house, splitting the wire in a hanging lamp before returning to the atmosphere Fortunately, nothing caught on fire On the other hand. Maggie and Rich were without water for three days until a new pump was installed and repairs made. ' Things could be worse, but on the other hand, they needn't have happened at all. CELEBRATIONS Birthday wishes go to Shirley Hager and Violet Nixon July 2. Patrick Mieszala has his cake on the ninth, and John Victor July 10. Our anniversary couple is Don and Louise Hipwell. This is the second time this year that happiness has been wished for them as the wrong date had been in our records. My, this year surely went fast, didn't it? With all the health problems this family has had this last month, it probably seemed that long. Don is one of our volun teer firemen and Louise is the president of the McHenry Nunda library board COST OF CHANGE This hds been a week of upheaval and transition for my family My parent's homestead for 35 years was sold and had to be vacated. What a lot of keepsakes are accumulated that must be disposed of. Wrhat heart rendering decisions had to be made as to what would be kept and what tossed into the dumpster Sister Katherine and her husband left to live in Florida. Sisffcr Mary and her husband are off to Colorado for a trip And brother Joe and his wife who were our neighbors here are now off to a new life in the south. With today's traveling time, we may see each other sooner than hoped for Until, then, dear family.
