The a (kilt softball players (18 years and over) are having a great time. Teams are chosen each week and captains alternate week after week Last week the team headed by Dave Grimes beat the team of Sue Zelvis by a score of 5 to 4. The week before that the two teams played to a ninth inning score of 0 to 0. There is still room for more players, so come join the fun. MOSQUITOES Your village is spraying for the control of mosquitoes You, too, can aid in this control program if you drain standing water in eave troughs, old tires, children's pools, and anywhere else you can think of Also fill in low lying areas in the yard to improve drainage Pouring oil on stagnant water on your own private property is also helpful However, do not do this to any water in the ditches To control adult mosquitoes, spray tall grass and shrubs with the insecticide malathion regularly and eliminate weed patches POLICE NEWS The following tickets were issued: Gordon Brewer, Hound Lake Beach, stop sign; Jim Bowles, McHenry Shores, dog running at large; James Harlan. Please contact the village police department if you see an>^acts of vandalism If we are all on the alert to these malicious vandals, we may protect our property from further abuse GIRL SCOUTS The Girl Scouts of Troop 417 attended four days of Core camp at Chapman Hills, Wis., recently. The girls, ac­ companied by their chaperone Mrs. Rosemary Orin, were: Kari Anderson, Bobbie Orin, Debbie Gorniak, Kathy Novotny, Charlene Einweck, Karen Gath, Tracy Nugent, and Susan O'Halleran One highlight of the camp was going snipe hunting; however, no one seemed to find one or even catch a glimpse of a snipe yet alone catch one The Flag ceremony con­ cluded the stay at the camp after^ which there was the singing of songs, the saying of farewells to counselors, and the receiving of badges which the girls earned during their camp visit REMINDERS There will be another all- village weekend of garage sales The dates for this have been set-Sept 15 and 16 are the two days Plan now to par­ ticipate in the villagewide undertaking Last April's sales were a huge success Contact Linda Panning to become a part of the sales this Sep­ tember The Trading Post which is still in the talking stage will plan another meeting for those interested in sharing ideas, services,, knowledge, or training A flyer will be cir culated prior to this meeting. Gunderson 385-3052 Parishioners Celebrate 50th Anniversary Andrew G. and Kay Eichhorn,, Sr., parishioners of St. John the Baptist church were married July 21, 1928, at St. Francis Xavier church, Chicago, by Reverend Edward Goldsmith The wedding party consisted of George and Theresa Schordje, Michigan, matron of honor and bestman; Mrs. Anna Miller, Mrs. Helen Hundrieser, Kay's sisters, and Mrs. Christina Somner, bridesmaids, all of Chicago. They had three children, Mrs. Annette (Robert) Orgler, Riverside, 111.; Andrew G. (Joanne) Eichhorn, Jr., and Tames M. (Mary) Eichhom; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Mass will be celebrated by Father Leo Bartel in the Johnsburg Community club. Judy Oeffling will sing at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 1978, with dinner following for many relatives, friends and out-of- town guests. More details next week. DEPARTURE-ARRIVAL Harry and Esther Dubsky, Mehring avenue, Johnsburg, have sold their property and will soon be settled in their new mobile home in Florida. They were married in 1933, moving to this area from Park Ridge 17 years ago, in 1961. At that time the present Jak-Ana Heights was just open farmland They have three children, Sarah Solotaroff in Min­ neapolis, Carolyn Burr, Sun- nyside, and Charles, Lake Zurich. They had a happy life here, and really loved Johnsburg Their children were married from here and they have eight grandchildren born while they lived here. They have had a busy and happy life and hope that Florida will be as nice. The new family moving in are Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sch­ midt from College Hill, Pa We hope they will be happy here, too, and make themselves truly at home.
