Awards were presented to Sara Bird, Melanie Smith, Vicki Bruce, Jennifer Nielsen, LaDonna Parvin, Lori Knaack, Ann Rich and Kim Smith. As one can see, the coach and team has been very involved the past two months and their future looks bright. Mr. Sperry, the originator of the "McHenry Tumble- Weeds", has coached tumbling in McHenry for the past eight years. The interest in this sport is growing rapidly all over the country. The parents of team mem bers, along with a few other students, have made con tributions to the team enabling them to purchase some necessary equipment which will aid in their training. The girls are presently working out twice a week, two hours per evening, and plan to do so for the entire summer. The coach is totally volunteering his time and effort to the girls par ticipating in the summer program One hopes McHenry will be proud of the "McHenry Tumble-Weedsand that community interest will be strong. The McHenry County Hor semen's association feels it desperately needs a current census of McHenry county horse population as part of its on-going efforts to keep ac curate statistics on matters affecting horsemen. A spokesman said it became evident at the June 15 Land use committee public hearing that the Planning commission is unaware of the magnitude of the horse population in McHenry county and thus cannot accurately make provisions for the business and recreational needs of its county residents. & This census is believed by the association to be in the best interest of all private owners, breeders, trainers, and private and commercial stables. Everyone who owns a horse or pony is asked to take a moment to fill out and return the form appearing on page 6 of this issue. For added convenience, drop boxes will be available at all shopping areas and feed stores throughout the county Accurate Certification For Crops Is Necessary McCullom Lake Board Gives OK To Cable TV The village board of Mc Cullom Lake met Tuesday, July 11, for their regular semi monthly gathering There was a representative at the meeting from a cables television com pany, and he gave a presen tation to the assemblage The board voted to have cable television brought into the village, since there are many advantages to having the service. The service will not be running for auite a while, as there is lots of work to be done to bring cable Tv in, but it is something to look forward to for the future Volunteers may have come around to your houses already, filling out the surveys about your well and septic service If no one has come yet, someone will shortly. Please cooperate with these folks. LADIES OF THE LAKE The Ladies of the Lake held their annual picnic Thursday, July 13, at the home of President Barbara Reiter More than twenty ladies en joyed the lovely weather while sampling each ladies' special dish which had been brought along for the occasion. Chicken was the main course, and there were salads and yummies galore to compliment it. Lemonade and cool, drinks were served, along with coffee for the die-hard coffee drinkers. Games were played, with prizes given to the lucky winners. Lucas indicated that the importance of farmers making correct reports on their 1978 planted acreage of program crops cannot be overem phasized. It is a requirement for eligibility for commodty loans, target price protection and disaster and emergency program assistance. "The local ASCS office staff helps farmers be accurate by using aerial photographs for marking field boundaries," Lucas said. "With these photographs, farmers will be able to identify the fields that are devoted to program crops, set-aside, or diversion. The use of some crops also must be reported." Final dates for making this certification report to ASCS is Aug 1, 1978. Adjustment of acreages after the final cer tification date is not permitted Complaint Ratios The Illinois Department of Insurance has released data showing the frequency of consumer complaints to the department about insurance companies doing business in Illinois.
