The match in Class C between Dorothy Christiensen and Phyllis Birdfhad Dot emerging as the victor; and in Class D it was Sue Jackson over Linda Watson. In Class A Carol Cooney and Nell Fidler were all tied up at the end of five when an un­ fortunate incident occurred. Walking from the fifth green to the sixth tee Nell tripped, fell and broke two fingers. An automatic forfeit could be granted; however, Carol elected to postpone the match so that one or the other might win under more favorable circumstances - Tentatively, the match will be made up some time before the end of August In Consolation Laverne Harpling won in Class A, Maisie Stamer in Class B, Betty Rode in Class C and Pat MacDonald in Class D. In the Nifty Niners' 9-hole team event Martha McCrary and Lorraine Gausden were the winners in Class A and Melanie Frett and Esther Sturm the winners in Class B Gen Hoelscher and Ethel Hartman tied for low putts of 16 in the double N. Jackie Victor in Class C had 31 for low putts in that class and Sue Jackson in Class D had low putts of 29 A couple of nice chip-ins were executed by Maisie Stamer and Ethel Hartman - Maisie on no 16 and Ethel on no. 7. And, this week five birdies were reported - Dot Freund on no. 18, Carol Cooney on no. 16, Vi Turner on no. 15. Alvina Yopp on no. 12 and Bemice Dolce on no 9. Liz Jack Barnas Plans 24-Mile Swim Fete Jack Barnas, 20-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Barnas of 805 N. River road, will set out on what he hopes may be a record setting swimming fete locally Aug 7. The young Western Illinois university student will leave McHenry at 5am with a goal of swimming twenty-four miles through the Chain O'Lakes and surrounding waters.
