VOICE OF APPEAL "Editor: ~ "By courtesy of Public Pulse, I want to add a voice of appeal, which many others would like to raise, over the action of the property owners near to the site of the building Miss Barbara Gerasch is contemplating building as a home for herself and her business. The Zoning board has granted her a zoning which is wise, fair and protective to all concerned. "This is not written to cen sure or denounce. Just a plea to drop the suit against the city for this zoning grant. It is difficult to imagine that the business which she operates could downgrade or detract any neighborhood. In the event that another business would try to take advantage of her grant, there is the provision that new zoning would be required. "Most people are not aware of the fact that postal em ployees subsidize the cost of postage by accepting low wages, "The 1975 contract negotiated by the postal unions was the lowest percentage wage increase accepted by members of a major labor union that year. "Thus far in 1978 the average union contract negotiated has been for a wage increase of 9.9 percent. This percentage does not include a cost of living allowance which is normally written into all labor contracts. "The postal corporation and postal unions have just con cluded negotiations on a new contract. This contract calls for a whopping 2 percent wage increase over the next year. "Some people feel that the postal service should be operated by private industry. Heaven help us if this ever occurs because postal em ployees then would be paid a wage comparable to salaries earned by utility company employees. "Sincerely "Arthur Oakley "5901 N.
