Increases in Hessian fly infesta-- tion are more marked in central and southern counties of the state than in northern, according to W 1. Flint, chief entomologist of the I!\ inois State Natural History Survey. Last year central and southern coun: ties showed stubble infestation ruu-- ning on the average from 2 to 4 per cent. This year the infestation runs from 8 to 33 per cent and will aver-- age around 15 per cent, according to Flint's report. The group of east: ern Illinois counties showing heayv-- iest infestation last year have about the same infestation this year. These include Edgar, Clark and Crawford counties.
