Mr. Chairman and Gentliemen. of the Board of Supervisors: . Your Committee on Miscellaneous Claims begs leave to make the fol-- lowing report on the claim present-- ed by the Sherift covering fees for services rendered. We find that the claim includes fees for services rendered in all the different courts As well as fees for private cases. We tind that there are certain fees included for services in private cas-- es where the collection is made through the County Clerk's office and pald by him to the Sherift. Where as the payment of same would mean a double collection and> likewise a duplicate report of the earnings of his office. 1 uds We believe that the claims pre-- sehted by the Sheriff should lucln10 only such items as are chargeable against the County and not include fees for services chargeable to pti-- vate individuals and collected for through the County Clerk's . office. We therefore recommend that you authorize Mr. Sims, Public Account-- ant, to ascertain the .requirements and install a suitable accounting sys tem in the office of the Sherifi. The Committee further recommends that the claim of the Sherift here-- with attached be revised to include only such items as are chargeable against the County.
