DOUG NELSON EECEPTION AT FAIEGEOUNDS - A wedding reception, held ai the fairgrounds in Woodstock, followed the wedding Sept. 23 uniting Maureen Folliard and Doug Nelson. The 3 p.m. ceremony took place at Christ the King church in Wonder Lake. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Folliard, Wonder Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. James Eakow, McHenry, are the parents of the bridegroom. The Lake County Homemakers Extension association of the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension service will sponsor its eighteenth annual Arts and Crafts show Wednesday, Oct. 18,10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lake county fairgrounds, Rt. 45 and Rt. 120, Grayslake. The theme for this years show is "Craft Village". Twenty-five units of the LCHEA will have booths demonstrating and selling various crafts and arts. Booths will feature a variety of wall hangings, wreaths, felt and macrame ornaments, a sports boutique, rosettes, artificial flowers (straw and fabric), votive candles, and cheese keepers. Many booths will demonstrate toys to be made, including hobby horses, hand puppets, and a variety of toys made from scraps. In addition cookies, nutbreads and homemade polish sausage sandwiches with kraut will be sold Booths include Volo and Wauconda units, featuring ecology strips and fake flowers. At the end of the ceremony, the groom sang "Follow Me" to his new bride. A reception for 200 guests followed hnmediately at the V.F.W. hall. The bride is a 1974 graduate of Nfetlenry high school, and has a degree from Illinois state in elementary education. Speaks On Con Fame To McHenry Seniors Club After the regular business meeting of the McHenry senior citizens club on Sept. 25, Mr. Ed McFadden, crime prevention officer for the McHenry county sheriff's police, gave a very informative program entitled 'The Bunco Boys". The presentation focused on various schemes that are perpetrated on the public, and which are many times specifically aimed at seniors Mr McFadden distributed pertinent literature, answered questions, and urged people to call on the police departments for help and in formation whenever necessary. During the business meeting which preceded the program, a vote was taken not to cancel the Oct 9 meeting and the card party substituted for the previously scheduled program Membership chairlady, Charlotte Wons reported six"' new members, who were given a hearty welcome and en couraged to become active in the club and its various ac tivities Mrs Wanda Zima, social chairlady, thanked the ladies for their cooperation in volunteering to bring cakes, and asked them to continue to volunteer thus saving a lot of time for the committee in making telephone calls She also mentioned that the majority of the members seem to favor having the Christmas dinner at West campus cafeteria It will take place on Monday, Dec 11 Mr John Doerr. tour chairman, reminded the members that the two buses for the dinner-theater trip to the Fireside restaurant at Ft. Atkinson, Wis will leave the McHenry State bank parking lot at 4:30 p.m. Buses for the play "The Sunshine Boys" are filled, as are the three buses for the Ice Follies on Nov. 15. Buses will leave the McHenry bank parking lot at 5 p.m. Dec 6 is the date of the bus- luncheon-theatre trip to Shady Lane at Marengo, and reservations are made with Mrs Louise Giel The play is "Under The Yum-Yum Tree". On Jan 24 Mr Doerr has scheduled a luncheon-theater date at Crescent Bay Landing at Johnsburg The play is "Bull-Shot Drummond". In view of the short distance, this will not involve a bus.
