Moss said Combined circulation was estimated at 70 million The industry is made up of mostly small businesses with a few exceptions like McGraw-Hill, wh<f last year grossed $200 million Good young people are hard to fird, ' ' Moss enthusiastically toldj his attentive audience of journalism students Moss cited An lerican Business Press figures that • show trade magazine editors' annual salaries range from $9,000 to $56,000 Moss, head of Kona Com munications, Inc , in Deerfield, 111 , said, "Women can progress rapidly The business press was one of the first industries to recognize job equality". Decrying the power of government bureaucrats. Moss spelled out in detail how op oressive regulations drive up the cost of virtually everything, leaving consumers footing the bill Referring to a major truck safety standard, Moss pointed out how two agencies within the (ederal Department of Tran sportation are warring with each other The net result is that highway trucks must be equipped with $3,000 anti-skid brake devices that are of questionable safety value The decision makers who rely on the trade press to keep up with trends in their fields do so with implications that effect farmers truck drivers, doctors and people in all walks of life, the publisher said Moss' participation in the Visiting Professional series was coordinated by journalism instructor Joseph Longmeyer Farmers with 1978-crop corn under price support loan, can place it directly in the grain reserve. Jim Lucas, county executive director of the McHenry County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation service., reported "This means that an eligible farmer may obtain a Com modity Credit corporation price support loan on his 1978 crop corn and also place it in the reserve at the same time." Eligible farmers are those who participate in the 1978 Feed Grain set aside program Lucas said immediate entry of the crop into the reserve was authorized because the national feed grain reserve goal had not been met as of Oct 1 The USDA had set a reserve goal of 670 million bushels • corn equivalent of feed grains, including 500-575 million bushels of corn "this includes the price support loan program " Immediate entry of 1978-crop sorghum, oats, and barley into the reserve was not authorized As of Sept 29, McHenry county producers had placed t.065.000 bushels of corn in the reserve program, contributing to the national corn reserve of 315.469.800 bushels, "these farmers want higher corn prices and are willing to do something to help improve those prices," Lucas said. If corn growers continue to make substantial use of the reserve, it will help increase corn prices, he added If addition to benefiting from higher grain prices, producers who participate in the reserve receive annual storage payments in advance of 25 cents per bushel for all grain except oats The storage rate for oats is 19 cents per bushel. The reserve program isolates grain from the market for a period of up to three years, or until market prices reach stated levels. Cardio vascular deaths per 100.000 have dropped from 425 in 1950 to 295 twa^ears ago. research reveals. Some doctors point out that the decline is due to an increase in in dividual awareness of the risks of high blood pressure, obesity, a family history of heart disease, diabetes, smoking and excessive cholesterol intake For example, between 25 and 30 million people have quit smok ing Check with your local medical officials and ensure your golden years aren't interrupted by a heart disease that can be prevented. SUN. 1 to 9| Kathleen O'Hanlon is a nurse at the Koyal Victoria hospital, located in a barricaded area between Roman Catholic and Protestant strongholds It is she who meets incoming am bulances and makes instant medical judgments "The minute those people come through the door," says Sister Kate, as the ambulance drivers call her, "they cease to be instigator or victim They become patients, and the ones who need treatment the most get the highest priority." In this bitter strife in which nobody wins. Sister Kate ministers to the suffering This is her life Once in a while she takes a day to unwind and walk along the wild coast listening to the wind But most of the time her ears are tuned to am bulance sirens Sister Kate tells of times when up to 150 people in shock come in within an hour "This isn't a job where you can flap about and say. Oh dear, oh dear ' " "One tough cookie," someone has called her, "but a great lady " One morning a policeman, blinded by a bullet, came in not long after his friend, a soldier with a shattered jaw She put them side by side "The soldier who couldn't talk wrote notes," she recalls, "and I read them to the policeman who couldn't see " , Queen Elizabeth I I , h e a d of the Protestant church of England, has singled out the Roman Catholic nurse to be a member of the Order of the British Empire.
