There is no set fee; a donation is accepted in helping to foster the work of the club MCC Trustee At Annual Student Legal Rights Meet LANITA Bl'HRIS McHenry County college's student trustee is attending the fifth annual Student Legal Rights conference in New Orleans this month. Trustee Lanita Burris, an MCC sophomore majoring in graphics, is attending sessions on varied topices at the weekend seminar Ms. Burris who has served on the College board since June,- explained the conference is sponsored by Kansas State university .and by Southeastern Louisiana university. She said sessions include Student Legal Services, the Student as Consumer, Reverse Discrimination, Student Lobbying, Collective Bargaining, the Rights of Non- Majority Students, Freedom of the Student Press, Rights of Women Students, and the Rights of Handicapped Students Bill Monroe of Meet the Press and Wisconsin Senator William Proxmire are among the featured speakers at the conference. Burris. a Woodstock resident who describes herself as a 'returning woman student", said she hoped to collect in formation at the conference which will be useful to the college's board and to other students "We have a good college here at MCC* but the college is growing It's better to foresee discrimination before it ever happens and prevent it," she siiid Burris added she feels being informed on the issues of student rights will help her "better represent the students here". This Autumn Fruit Cake is the choice of some over the overly rich Christmas fruit cakes. Aatnmn Fruit Cake 2 sticks oleo 2 c sugar 5 eggs 1 lb. box Graham cracker crumbs 1 can coconut 1 can crushed pineapple (drained) 1 c chopped nuts 1 t baking powder Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beat­ ing well after each addition. Add other ingredients except nuts. Mix thoroughly, add nuts. Bake in a greased tube pan for one hour and ten min­ utes at 325 degrees. Topping: Cream together 4 ounces cream cheese and 2 table­ spoons softened butter. Add '/i box confectioners sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla and Vi cup chopped nuts.
