That date has been set as the date for the first trial in the McHenry county investigations proceedings. The majority of the defendants asked for a change of venue and the same was granted by Judge Shur- tleff The judge stated that he was unable to say at this time what judge would preside in the change of venue cases. Congressman Frank Reid has taken up the matter of getting better mail service for the- people of McHenry, Ringwood, Richmond aiuf Hebron, following comp^inM that have come to him already from those towns and from the Woodstock Daily Sentinel. A change in ownership of the Central Market on Green street took place when George Schreiner purchased the business from Wallace Woodburn, who has conducted the market since he bought it from William Pries about two years ago. FORTY YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of December 1. 1938) Leo Meyer suffered painful injuries when he fell from the roof on the Hubert Freund farm house. Meyer was on the roof with several other workmen in building a scaffold preparatory to erecting a new chimney, when he suddenly slipped, lost his balance and fell to the ground. Coach Dale of Woodstock led an inexperienced team of basketball players into Coach Reid's camping grounds and dropped a hair raiser to another inexperienced team from McHenry high. 29 to 27. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of November 26. 1953) Thanksgiving day, Nov 26. will be double reason for celebration for Rev Fr Walter Conway, CSC., and members of his family for on that day the McHenry priest observes his silver jubilee in the priesthood. He is believed to be the only living priest from St. Patrick's parish. In observance of the occasion open house will be held in the afternoon in St. Patrick's hall, when local folks are invited to call and renew old friendships. Mass will be sung that morning at 10:30 o'clock. „ A conditional sale of bonds was effected at a special meeting of the grade school board Twelve leading com panies were present and participated in the bidding. Fortunately for the community the bond market is very- favorable. The bid accepted will produce an average rate of 2.4 percent.
