Maybe Coach Ludwig got caught with his material down, but MCHS is large enough to come up with good teams in the future Nobody can fault the present Warriors the way they are improving Crystal Lake South is rated high, but the Ludwig team gave them a battle One real tall rebounder could make a whale of a difference Our area has athletes on McHenry, Johnsbivg and Marian Central teams We wish them well -all of them Whoops' Now we learn that the Warriors beat Dundee lor their first victory in the Fox Valley Conference "Clear the way We are on the way So say the happy Warriors The Skyhawks of Johnsburg went into the holiday with a rousing victory over Richmond to further improve their record Scott Dixon was hotter than a dime store pistol Read all about it in your Plaindealer sports section Christmas will be over when this hits the newsstands If you had children in your home, you know all about excitement Gifts were anxiously opened beautiful wrappings were ripped off and strewn about the floor Some of you must have ex claimed. Don't fence me Heard a woman speaking of her bewilderment about Christmas cards. She has the idea that some people wait to see if she sends them a card before they send one Next year this gal won't send any Christmas cards She thinks the list will be cut down and she will send New Year greetings to those who kept her on the list Dear Earl The season of Christmas is here again, and what a joyous time it is Faith and works are like.the light and the heat of a candle, they cannot be separated He who sows courtesy reaps friendship He who plants kindness gathers love At Christmas, play and make good cheer For Christmas comes but once a year May this be a cheerful Christmas and a Happy New Year to ALL "The Padre" Strict Penalty In the early years of New- Haven. C. -- The Penn State-Alabama clash in the Sugar Bowl is likely to produce the nation's no. 1 college football team. If Penn State wins (and they couldn't beat the Tide last year) the Lions will almost certainly gain top place in the final college ranking. They will deserve it with an unbeaten record. But if Nebraska is mean while humiliated by Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl--even soundly thumped--and Penn State loses, it's a question whether the Sooners or Ala bama (maybe even Michigan if the Wolverines convincingly derail Southern California in. the Rose Bowl) will end up on top. And the Sooners have more motive--a chance at num ber one, and revenge. The Crimson Tide figures it can win the college title by upending Penn State, the na tion's number one. The Lions are shoo-ins if they win. So the Sugar Bowl is the top clash of the bowl season, with the Orange and Rose following in that order. \ Wv TERRY REILLY. a junior college transfer from Rock Valley Junior college where he was All-State, All-Conference, and All- District. is currently attending Valley City State college in Valley City, North Dakota.
