'They had all the pretty winding paths, arbors, bridges and flower beds. It seemed like paszing from day-- light into darkness as we abruptly stepped into another swamp com-- pletely encompassed> by willows. We found most of the lake shore occupied by summer homes and farm land extending down that far was a rarity. We had passed through one. cornfield and here we found a filed of clover, but each change made the trip more --interesting. Beyond this we discovered another wfinlyi new 'scene, the high bluff so close to the water, and the path winding up and down its almost Wcflu 'Side that we found it diffi-- cult ' to maintain our footing -- and ikeep from sliding into the peaceful water below. We could shut our eyes and imagine we were climbing in the Alps or following a-- western mountain trail with --a~ mountain. stream rushing over boulders in a Wt below. From here we could across "The Narrows" and , distinguish the pretty secluded spot We had discovered in the morning. | ~Further on we found ravines and woodland and much natural benty' 'This particular portion of the shore, THE LAKE COUNTY REGISTER, WEDNESDAY, We regretted having to leave our JMPRES88IONS NEAR HOME : Nina Jane Rouse Foll.
