Form Emergency Assistance Unit t Many emergency situations have developed as a result of the recent snowstorms, such as workers being unable to drive to the hospital, rescue squads unable to reach patients, delivery of medicines, groceries, etc. In answer to the problems, the McHenry County Emergency ' Services and Disaster Agency (MCESDA) has announced the formation of a new volunteer division known as the emergency Assistance division. In an effort to cooperate with the county agency, the ESD assistant director for the city of McHenry, Betty Smith, would like to contact persons who want to help the city and the surrounding villages. This group of volunteers must be 16 years of age and over, and must own (or have available to them) a snowmobile, 4-wheel drive vehicle or other piece of equipment approved by the division chief. They will be trained in the use of portable radios provided by the MCESDA and will be covered by insurance beneifts and workman's compensation made available to ESDA volunteers by the state statutes. „ Anyone interested in learning more about this new Emergency Assistance division is invited to attend a meeting Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the McHenry Public library, 1011 N. Green street. U . Anyone unable to attend this meeting, but who would desire to offer assistance in any way, contact Betty Smith, at 385-2650 after 6 p.m. Deaths Snowpocked Roads Give ALMA MARIE MEYER Alma Marie Meyer, 84, who lived with her daughter at 3218 W.
