On Tuesday they lost a heartbreaker to Dundee 46 to 44, and on Thursday they defeated Crystal Lake South 55 to 40. In the Dundee game the local girls held the lead in the closing minutes, but a rally by the CardS enabled them to pull out a victory. Sharon Smith with 16 points led the Warriors. In the South game the locals ran up a early 16 to 4 lead, but the Gators rallied for a 24-all tie at the intermission. A 31 to 16 second half margin was more than enough for the Warriors to win easily in this game. Vicki Kopsell with 14 points led the locals in scoring. The sophomores regained the lead at the end of the third quarter, 37-36, and increased their margin early in the fourth quarter to a five point lead. But the Harvard offense then proceeded to outscore the Skyhawks to build up a six point victory. Talented Tom Pieper was high point man for the John sburg club with seven field goals and six free throws for a total of 20 points. Pieper, only a freshman, has seen con siderable action this year playing for both the freshman and sophomore squads. Rick Neiss, sophomore guard, scored 15 points for the Skyhawks. • The Johnsburg sophomores were scheduled to host Marengo Tuesday night and will play North Boone on Friday. Ultraviolet rays from the sun are short wave rays which, curiously, tend to heat the earth's equatorial zone more than the polar zones, for example. This has a great ef fect on the winds which circle the earth, as can readily be seen-heat being a producer of wind and cloud. Generally speaking, when the sun's ultraviolet rays are more numerous than usual, the greater area of the United States is due for stronger west- east weather movements and wetter weather. Fewer ultraviolet rays from the sun mean warmer and drier weather for most of the country. DUNKIN' DONUTS COFFEE MUG. 59*, OR FREE WITH THE PURCHASE OF A DOZEN DONUTS AND THE COUPON BELOW. When you get the urge to light a cigarette, make yourself wait at least three minutes. During this time change your thinking or activity. 2. For the next two weeks, wrap all of your cigarette packages individually as presents. Every time you want a cigarette, unwrap one of your packages. Write down what you are doing, how you feel, and how important this cigarette is to you. . 3. A good time to quit* t for good is when you come down with a cold or the flu. If you're not the sickly type, try smoking several more cigarettes than you really want for a couple of days. You'll get sick of them, and you'll quit. 4. Make it difficult to get a light. Don't carry matches or a lighter. 5. If you're really serious about quitting, don't buy your cigarettes by the carton. You'll never make it if you always have a big supply on hand. Of course, it's more expensive buying them by the pack - but that's another reason to quit. 6. Help someone else to quit smoking, and quit together. 7. Stop carrying cigarettes on your person. Keep them as far away from you as you can. 8. If you have a sudden craving for a cigarette, take ten deep breaths ana hold the last breath while you strike a match. Exhale slowly, blowing out the match. Pretend the match was a cigarette by crushing it out in an ashtray. Then immediately get buy and do some work or play. 9. Find yourself a smoking corner that is removed from anything of interest. Always go to this same dull corner to smoke. If you enjoy smoking with others, smoke alone. If you enjoy smoking alone, smoke with others. 10. Never smoke while watching TV. 11. Never say "I'm trying to quit smoking". Instead say, "I don't want to smoke". 12. Drink lots of liquids, especially juices, to flush the nicotine out of your system. 13. Scrub vigorusly in the tub or shower to stimulate circulation.
