When the law was changed allowing 19 and 20 year olds to purchase wine and beer, it merely provided greater access to even young people to obtain wine and beer through their friends. The in creasing number of deaths and serious injuries on our high ways is known to all. However, the proportion of teenagers under the influence of alcohol has jumped tremendously from the last three years," Rep. Griesheimer explained. "When the prior bill passed the legislature in 1973, I op posed it. I believe I was the only negative vote on this bill in the 31st Legislative district. I certainly hope that our other legislators will see the error of this experiment and will now return the age to 21 for the legal purchase of all liquors," Rep. Griesheimer added. Study Heart Attack Victims "Can heart attacks be prevented * by lowering cholesterol?" That is the question posed by a team of University of Minnesota doc tors conducting a study of the r e l a t i o n s h i p b e t w e e n cholesterol and heart disease. "Heart disease is the leading cause of death and disability in the United States," said Dr. Henry Buchwald, the head of the Twin Cities based study. Nearly all heart disease results First Windmill The first windmill was erected in 1632 in Cambridge, Massachu setts. from atherosclerosis, or har dening of the arteries - the tubes which must continually supply blood containing life- giving oxygen and nourishment to the heart and other organs. Atherosclerosis gradually thickens and narrows arteries until blood can no longer flow through them; the result of this narrowing is usually acute illness, the most prevalent of which is a heart attack. According to Dr. Buchwald, cholesterol, a fatty substance, is found in diseased arteries and may represent a clue to the cause of atherosclerosis. Also, the amount of cholesterol found somewhat, how likely we are to have heart atatcks. Facts such as these have led many doctors to use various means to lower blood cholesterol in their patients; it is still uncertain, however, whether such lowering can actually prevent heart attacks. The University of Minnesota research team is now individuals from 25 through years of age who have had onlf one heart attack in the past five years.
