Hodder, president of the Medic Alert Foundation International. "This is our major public education effort," said Hodder. "We will utilize this time to call attention to the prevalence of hidden medical conditions throughout the United States. One out of every five Americans has a hidden medical condition, ranging from medication allergies, to diabetes and epilepsy. It is our goal to inform the public that the unique Medic Alert system of 24-hour-a-day. lifetime protection is available and can prevent incorrect and, in some cases, fatal treatment in an emergency. A Medic Alert emblem speaks for the wearer in an emergency," Hodder con cluded. Joining the Medic Alert week effort will be thousands of volunteers around the United States who will direct and participate in information programs in their own com munities. "Over 1.3 million people belong to Medic Alert world wide," Hodder added. Average He's a very forthright character. He's right about a fourth of the time. -News, Danburg, Conn. It7» In Flooding Relax Rules For Oversize Vehicles 34 99 The Illinois Department of Transportation has tem porarily changed oversize vehicle permit regulations to expedite the movement of mobile homes from flood threatened areas in various Illinois counties. Normally a permit must be obtained for each mobile home to be moved since most mobile homes exceed state size specifications. Because of the flood emergency, a permit is required only for a vehicle moving mobile homes and not limiting the number of homes moved. Also the normal fees have been waived for the period of emergency. The emergency order applies to all counties where flooding or flood threats exist. General information on flooding conditions, how to deal with floods and flood insurance may be obtained by calling a toll-free number operated by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
