So that school officials may provide complete and con venient services for district residents, it is important that parents register at this time. This 3, 4 and 5-year-old registration is very important and necessary in order to ef ficiently and adequately provide programs for District 12 residents. The annual registration serves as an in formal census for the district also; therefore all parents are encouraged to make necessary arrangements so their children can be registered. If anyone is unable to come at the assigned time, the school will cooperate at a time that is convenient. The schedule is set up to avoid overcrowding and should be adhered to if at all possible- Heavy Month statistics show thai children born in the month of May in the United States are on the average about 200 grams heavier at birth than children born in any other month. Bush Elementary school in Johnsburg are busy putting together a puzzle in a race which was part of the final assembly in "Friendship Month" at the school. This was one of numerous activities held at the school during March, as both students and teachers participated in the month's activities. STAFF PHOTO-JOE DEHN afternoon assembly, was held. Races such as a soda slurp, six pack stretch, and an ob stacle course were held. Some students had the op portunity to invent a hand shake, while others par ticipated in a disco dance contest. Madge Diedrich lead the beginning and ending songs and Pat Clemens entertained everyone with a slide show depicting school activities throughout the month. Before the assembly ended, everyone had a piece of "un- birthday cake" and had their old and new friends sign their t- shirts. The assembly was made possible by a hard-working and very friendly committee which included Chris Collett, Madge Diedrich, Marie Falcone, Jan Kosanovich, Sue Helfand and Harry May. The activities they planned were entertaining and meaningful and a welcome break during our long spell of bad weather. The month of March was declared "Friendship Month" at James Bush elementary school in Johnsburg by the faculty and students and ac tivities were organized around that theme. The fun began March 1 when an introductory assembly was held to initiate the activities and get everyone into the spirit. At the end of the assembly, each student and teacher chose the name of a "secret friend." Throughout the month, everyone was busy sending goodies and messages to their secret friend. In most cases, the identity of the friends was kept con fidential and not revealed until LOOK FOR OUR MONEY SAVING COUPON IN THIS PAPER ! ! ! ! The children in Mary Rose's fourth grade class set up a silhoutte booth and drew lifelike resemblences of the other students. The silhouttes and felt friendship banners made under the supervision of Gloria Stewart were used to decorate the halls and multi-purpose room. Karen Parks, third grade teacher, arranged a "faculty baby picture contest", where the children had to guess the identity of staff members after seeing their baby pictures. The winners were announced at the final assembly. Another highlight was ob taining penpals from Valley View school in McHenry. The children were excited to make a new friend at another school and learned letter writing skills in the process. Hopefully, the Valley View children will attend a picnic at Johnsburg later in the spring. On the last school day of March the concluding event, an Off (REG.
