TRANSPORTATION REVENUES A comprehensive tran sportation financing package introduced in the Illinois Senate last Wednesday, was an nounced by Gov. James Thompson, Senate Majority Leader David Shapiro of Amboy, and House Minority Leader George Ryan of Kankakee. The bills include a four-year phase out by 1984 of the $126 million in road fund diversions. A 35 percent in crease in gasoline tax monies returned to local units of government is also included in the proposal. This increase in state aid would help pay for essential road repairs, help offset snow removal costs and ease some of the pressure on local property taxes, the Governor said.
