The poppy not only provides for the veterans, it also provides care for the widow and orphans of deceased veterans at the VFW National home in Eaton Rapids, Mich. Two style poppies will be offered in McHenry. One is know as the VFW "Buddy Poppy" and the other as the American Legion "Memorial Poppy" Both provide aid to the veterans. Lambourn said the rehabilitation facility is scheduled for completion this fall. It will contain 20,400 square feet, financed by funds from the Illinois Industrial Development authority and the Small business administration. People from four present Pioneer center buildings will be located at this new structure in McHenry shores, helping in­ crease efficiency and savings. The Birih-to-Three facilities on Ringwood road must be rezoned, and the Pioneer center board plans to appear before the zoning board June 14 for this purpose. Another major step forward, Lambourn said, was to hire a director of development. Gary Wente joined the staff in March. Among .his respon­ sibilities will be to serve as a liaison with other health care agencies in McHenry county, expand membership in the association, conduct fund- raising events under association auspices and create a newsletter to enhance contact with the expanding mem bership. The Illinois Developmental Disabilities Advocacy authority, which he heads, is being phased out. He told McHenry County Association for the Retarded members they must be alert to the way this new commission will function, explaining it plans to establish regional human rights authorities with strong powers, including subpoena authority. "I urge you to look for members and friends to recommend to the new human rights commission for ap­ pointment to the local group. It is vital to have members on it who are knowledgeable on the rights of the handicapped. Reports on denial of rights and infringement of rights will be handled first by the local authority. This new com­ mission is a strong instrument to protect the rights of the developmentally disabled and handicapped " Sleepy Driver Reports Crash Following Day George Cadotte, 3202 Skyway drive, McHenry, was ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident that occured in the early morning hours of May 3. Cadotte told the McHenry police that he "fell asleep at the wheel" and awoke when his car jumped the curb and hit a brown Chevy van, a yellow Camaro and a brown Cadillac Eldorado, all of which were parked in the lot at Overton's Pontiac at the corner of Elm and Front streets. Cadotte also told police that he was "bleeding severely from the nose, panicked and left." The next day, Cadotte reported the accident to the Police department. Anton R Cajthaml, 2817 N. Open New Church In Woodstock Redeemer Lutheran church will hold its first public worship service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. May 13, in Woodstock. Space has been rented in Olson Junior high school, 720 W. Judd street, for the rite. The Rev. Paul G. Tolo, pastor of the Redeemer Lutheran congregation, was called by the American Luthern church to begin a new home mission congregation in Woodstock. Plans are under way for the first worship unit of Redeemer to be built this year on the corner of Dean street and Hickory lane in south Wood­ stock.
