"Don t drop that on your toes'. From the Farmer s Almanac by anonymous: The tree that never had to fight For sun and sky and air and light. That stood out in the open plain. And always got its share of rain. Never became a forest king. But lived and died a scrubby thing The man who never had to toil. Who never had to win his share Of sun and sky and light and air. Never became a manly man. But lived and died as he began. , Good timber does not grow in The stronger wind, the tougher trees: The farther sky. the greater length. The more the storm the greater strength. By sun and cold, by ram and snows. In tree or man good timber grows. Hot weather is here and people are singing "In The Good Old Summer Time". Here are some of the answers as I greeted people with -- "Another beautiful day" "Yes But the sudden change might bring on a storm or tornado " "All it means to me is more grass to cut". "The sun feels good, but the wind is too strong "This is fine, but just watch - - it will ram on Sunday". "It's a nice day. agreed the woman. "But not THAT hot." as she viewed a young mac without a shirt or undershirt "In years past, it wasn't allowed " "This is too good to be true. It woo't last". So. I had my answers Then I moved into another subject and remarked to a fellow. "It doesn't look like Chicago baseball teams will bring a pennant to the city this year " "Whadda-ya-mean." came the Mast. "The Cubs have a great chance. The Sox won't come close. Suppose that subject could have been explored further. I can wait. The way the Sox are running players between Chicago and their Iowa farm dub, some of those players must feel like a yo-yo. The theory seems to be to keep the most promising rookies playing every day instead of sitting on a major league bench Can't argue with that. Mark Twain once said. "My mother had a great deal of trouble with me but I think she enjoyed it." Mothers do have their troubles, but loyalty is their middle name.
