STAFF PHOTOS-WAYNE GAYLORD LOOK. STOP. WAIT. Look. When your engine overheats, you'll see a light signal indicating extreme engine heat, or a temperature guage reflecting a higher than normal reading. Stop. Unless overheating is caused by idling in hot weather traffic in which case you can often solve the problem by taking the car out of gear and accelerating the engine speed you must stop driving. Wait. Don't touch the radiator cap. Removing it under pressure is dangerous. Allow the engine to cool for at least 30 minutes, then add liquid if necessary. A service station can offer emergency aid. But for a proper and permanent solution to the cause of the problem, see the cooling system specialists as soon as possible for a complete inspection.
